This was hands down the worst beer of the day at the Oregon Brewers Festival. I don't know what possessed these guys to even pour tastes of this foul swill!
A - flat, weird color, looks like something a Klingon would drink.
S - medicinal. That's all. Like dimetapp or robitussin... sickly
T - so artificial and medicinal. Seriously... like taking medicine before bed
M - Light, but sticky... can't get flavor out of mouth...
D - I would rather drink Corona than this... at least Corona doesn't taste like anything.

There is not much berry smell in this beer which was surprising. It is very watery with the berry taste in the background. It has a spoiled sour taste to it. I couldn't even finish the bottle. There are many mass marketed non craft beers that I'd rather drink.

I initially before tasting looked at the multiple bad reviews of this beer. Individuals were describing the beer in such a dreadful way that I thought they could have been overreacting... and then I tried this beer. The color was a light pinkish, reddish color; there was only a thin layer of head. The smell reminded me of a generic berry soda's smell and a bit of an unpleasant wheat smell. It tastes like someone fermented some berry flavored soda. It has this artificial bubblegum taste. It's very syrupy feeling and is not refreshing at all. It is ironic that this is the most artificially tasting fruit wheat beer, I have tasted and it is organic. I only made it through half a glass and that was difficult enough. It could have perhaps been a good beer if it didn't have such a strong generic sweet berry flavor. Overall it is a horrible fruit beer.

Blind Beer #6! Another day, another set of dollars, and an enriched thirst for something alcoholic and tasty. This one was suggested to crack into a pint glass.
Low generation of head, low retention, tons of carbonation... GIANT bubbles forming around the glass. Dilute urine yellow with orange tint that is almost clear to vision.
Tons of bread malt. A tad bit of generic apple flavoring off the hinge. Some minor grassy hops. Something unusual as well .... Its... almost a dry, spice that has gone stale stored in tupperware leaking phthalates.
Oh this is bad. Bitter beer face has some back to haunt me! What am I? Twelve sneaking beer again from my dad? Gosh... this tastes absolutely off... Bad... Awful even. Starts watered down biscuit malt. Literally take a biscuit, break off a piece and smash it with some water and I bet that tastes better than this. Following that is what I swear could be hops. It has maybe a wheat characteristic, but I'm trying to hope for the best with this beer and maybe inventing flavors. Hell, the bitterness is so mild it could be my imagination that this thing has hops. Finish is that biscuit malt flavor lingering, morphing slowly into cardboard. Acrid aftertaste of plaque as well. Something... berry that is infused with plasticizers?
Crisp opening dissipates readily in my oral cavity. Thin, sticky flavors unfortunately, watery. Just plain flat disappointing. It has more similarities to tainted water than anything else.
This beer is definitely the killshot. I do not like. I hope to goodness this... lager? is the killshot, hah. It has few flavor characteristics I like. Few improvements in the nose. Nothing in the mouthfeel to offset the negative characteristics elsewhere. This was just a big disappointment. However, I knew what I was getting into with this BIF, so it isn't as huge disappointment as it could have been. What is this beer tonight...
Acai Berry Wheat... Well there was an occasional berry-like flavor... and the malt of the wheat makes sense. Thanks for this kill-tick!

Pale yellow with a slight haze. It pours with no head. The nose is unpleasantly funky with an odd semi-tart berry component that I wouldn't necessarily identify as acai; it's just generic fruit. This smells oddly sweet for a 4% wheat beer. Pretty awful so far. The taste, surprisingly, isn't as horrifically bad as the aroma. Bad, yes, but it's more tolerable to my tongue than it is to my olfactory system. Sweet up front with a bunch of misused berry flavor, this is somewhere between a light ale and a wine cooler. Finishes slick, buttery and flat. Quite the atrocious beer here; I'll have to pick up a few more to age for a while.

Aroma:Nice berry aroma
Appearance:Clear but poor head retention
Taste:Watery, some bitter off-notes. Acai berry taste is subtle.
Mouthfeel:A little watery
Drinkability:I was not impressed by this beer, I was expecting it to be much more of a fruit beer, as opposed to a marketing gimmick.

This looks like a pale gold BMC lager... Head vanished quickly.
The nose holds little wheat, and not a whole lot i notice as acai, but there are berries-- perhaps blackberries, blueberries and raspberries? The flavor has a weird skunky cologne quality to it. Not very sweet, but lots of berry flavor.
The body is thin and overcarbed.
Overall, this is simply not a beer I want to drink again.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip pint glass. A little bit hard to quality this as beer... but hey, here's the review anyway:
A: Pours a slightly hazy watery yellow color with half a finger of white head that had dissipated in the time it took me to look at the glass, rinse the empty bottle out with water, and look back.
S: All I'm really getting here is a light berry smell, similar to the strength found in flavored bottled water. The berry aroma is a good deal away from smelling like freshly picked ones, and well on its way to air freshener category.
T: Generic "malt" flavor that can be found in American adjunct lagers and more of the same berry flavor from the smell; at least it's faint instead of tasting like syrup.
M: Thin body, lively carbonation that lends it an almost soda-like quality. Dry finish with ingering metallic taste.
D: Now that my review's finished, it's hard to find a reason to keep drinking this. Not interested in the flavors it has to offer, even if it hypothetically should go down like water.
Props to Eel River for producing easy to find organic beers; it's nice to have the option to buy them... even if this one isn't so good.

Not a very good beer really at all.
Pours a golden wheat color with a white head and no lacing, massive carbonation. Looks like a soda.
Smells fruity and sweet, kind of boozy.
Tastes like licking an acai berry and drinking some club soda. Doesn't really taste like a beer more like soda. No hop or malt character really there, maybe adjuncts.
Mouthfeel: with such massive carbonation it felt like a soda.
Not very drinkable.

A tiny head disappears completely in seconds. The body is a relatively clear light lager straw golden. Aromas are funky, with a bit of sweet and tart with a major backdrop of grassy hops. The flavors are similar. The best way I can describe the taste is light domestic lager with a hint of Czech style hops (grassy, clean earthy) and watery fruit juice. The carbonation is high at first and then, like the head, it just seems to go away. Where is the wheat in here? This is a strange beer, and while the hops are pleasant, they are out of place and not great enough to make me want this beer again.

Yellow, apple juice like, no lace no head and slight carbonation. A little cloudy. Smelled faintly of grape juice, a little bread and a little metallic.
Water going down, soda water that is, bread aftertaste with a tiny berry back stab.
Soda water in the taste, club soda. Slight berry taste all around and barely a hint of bitter. Bread again comes at the end, like a weak jelly sandwich in a bottle.
What beer is this? Tastes like a mixer to a fruity drink, something like a bottom shelf schnapps in club soda? No thanks.

Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with minimal head and no lacing. The aroma is of berries and, well, that's about it. The flavor is most similar to a bud light with a small shot of some acai berry syrup. You either love or hate this beer; I choose to hate.

Re-posting earlier review that was deleted...
Bottle shared by largadeer on BA in a quest for the worst beer ever tasting. Wow, Eel River, WTF? Is this really a beer? This is basically the acai berry version of what I'd expect Bud Select 55 to taste like. Pours a clear, watery golden-yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very light with butter and light fruit juice. Flavor is mild acai berry, seltzer water, just a touch of wheat, and butter. Palate is almost exactly like Fruit2O or some other carbonated fruit water. Hey, at least it's drinkable. Good way to hydrate.

This beer pours a clear pale straw color. The head is nonexistent. The aroma is of berries, and a hint of malt. The berry notes are rather strong in comparison to other fruity wheat beers. The taste is like the aroma, but weaker. The mouthfeel is thin, watery, and has an annoyingly high level of carbonation. The mouthfeel actually comes to dominate the entire beer in a bad way. Overall, this is a bad beer that I will not be drinking again.

Pours a very light pale yellow color with a small head and no lacing. The smell is of faint acai and some grain. The taste is the same a faint acai berry and some wheat. The taste is slightly watery. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation. Drinkability is slightly below average, there is a weak taste that would make you not want to drink more, however, the taste isn't awful where you would say you dislike the beer totallly.

Had this one a while back but took notes. Poured a pale golden color with fizzy head that faded quickly and left no lacing. Smelled of malts, fruit, and yeast. Tasted of malts and mild fruit. Smooth, but a bit overcarbed. Had to struggle a little bit to finish this.

Picked this up on super-discount, as the brewery is apparently pulling out of Minnesota.
Pours a very clear golden-orange. About one finger of off-white head, sponge-like with mostly big bubbles. Head fades fast, leaving no lacing whatsoever. One nice stream of bubbles rising up from the bottom of the glass.
Smell is dominated by sweet, pungent fruit, which I have to assume is acai. It's a pleasant, full fruit aroma, kinda like berries, but without the sweet finish. There's a hint of a beer behind that, but not much.
Taste starts out fruity but not sweet. It's an odd fruitiness, very thin and slightly tangy. Then a bit of bitterness drifts in and is quickly gone (not really hop-like, kinda tastes like a pill tablet). I get only a tiny hint of wheat. Finish is surprisingly dry and crisp.
Light-bodied with fizzy, tingly, hyperactive carbonation. Finish is watery.
This is an odd beer, more like carbonated fruit juice. And the fruit isn't really the kind I'd choose to give the reins of a beer to. It's okay, but there's not a whole lot to recommend it.

[Best served in a Flute]
Poured a cloudy medium amber with a small white fizzy that had no retention at all and no lacing to speak of. The aroma hits the nose right off the bat with a strong dose of berries then light grain malts and a light sweet yeast, and not much else. It tasted very lightly sweet with hints of berries from the beginning to end with the flavor fading very rapidly after the swallow. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a fizzy carbonation. Overall nothing special at all about this brew except the berry flavor. I felt like I was drinking flavored carbonated water!!

Part of a random six pack I put together at New Beer. Couldn't find enough questionable winter warmers that were new to me.
Organic(& possibly fresh as the full shelf would usually indicate, but not always; no BBD).
Rounded pint glass. No added coloring. Just a plain chill hazed yellow gold. Inch of lightweight white head. Active carbonation.
Smell is of unidentifiable berry & berry-flavored Nerds candy(dusty corn syrup). Perfumey.
Taste is a briefly sweet, barely tart, dry berry wheat beer. Berry/red grape tartness lingers around a bit gaining just a puff of bitterness in the finish.
Feel is glassy, moderately carbed & dry. Faint wheat texture. Alcohol is negligible.
I felt a bit "off" after drinking this. Never had anything acai to compare this too.

Bought this just to see how much it tasted like Acai berries, sadly it didn't but for the price and for how expensive acai berries are it would have had to cost a lot more to get any real acai flavor. Pale yellow color with a thick white head. Aroma was bready and grainy, no fruit or hops evident. Tasted like a watered down macro lager. Harsh graininess, some bitterness, medium bodied. I would drink it before a macro lager, but not by much.
