Blind Beer #6! Another day, another set of dollars, and an enriched thirst for something alcoholic and tasty. This one was suggested to crack into a pint glass.

Low generation of head, low retention, tons of carbonation... GIANT bubbles forming around the glass. Dilute urine yellow with orange tint that is almost clear to vision.

Tons of bread malt. A tad bit of generic apple flavoring off the hinge. Some minor grassy hops. Something unusual as well .... Its... almost a dry, spice that has gone stale stored in tupperware leaking phthalates.

Oh this is bad. Bitter beer face has some back to haunt me! What am I? Twelve sneaking beer again from my dad? Gosh... this tastes absolutely off... Bad... Awful even. Starts watered down biscuit malt. Literally take a biscuit, break off a piece and smash it with some water and I bet that tastes better than this. Following that is what I swear could be hops. It has maybe a wheat characteristic, but I'm trying to hope for the best with this beer and maybe inventing flavors. Hell, the bitterness is so mild it could be my imagination that this thing has hops. Finish is that biscuit malt flavor lingering, morphing slowly into cardboard. Acrid aftertaste of plaque as well. Something... berry that is infused with plasticizers?

Crisp opening dissipates readily in my oral cavity. Thin, sticky flavors unfortunately, watery. Just plain flat disappointing. It has more similarities to tainted water than anything else.

This beer is definitely the killshot. I do not like. I hope to goodness this... lager? is the killshot, hah. It has few flavor characteristics I like. Few improvements in the nose. Nothing in the mouthfeel to offset the negative characteristics elsewhere. This was just a big disappointment. However, I knew what I was getting into with this BIF, so it isn't as huge disappointment as it could have been. What is this beer tonight...

Acai Berry Wheat... Well there was an occasional berry-like flavor... and the malt of the wheat makes sense. Thanks for this kill-tick!

[Best served in a Flute]

Poured a cloudy medium amber with a small white fizzy that had no retention at all and no lacing to speak of. The aroma hits the nose right off the bat with a strong dose of berries then light grain malts and a light sweet yeast, and not much else. It tasted very lightly sweet with hints of berries from the beginning to end with the flavor fading very rapidly after the swallow. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a fizzy carbonation. Overall nothing special at all about this brew except the berry flavor. I felt like I was drinking flavored carbonated water!!

A: Bright, clear gold/yellow color. Poured a one finger white head that dissipated quickly to a skim. Decanted continually. Laced in a few random spots.

S: Sweet berries and wet bread. Very straightforward.

T: Wet grains and bread. Dark berries, some other apricot and plum fruit flavors as well. Light spiciness (from hops?). Sweet fruit soda flavors linger in a surprisingly dry finish.

M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Sweet and soda-like to aa dry and crisp (a little strange).

O: Not anything horribly wrong; usually a safe bet in a fresh wheat beer - especially a fruit one. Just a little strange in the way the taste was all over the place and the strange transition in the feel.

5 oz pour in a flight at Yard House San Diego.

Medium amber color, not much lacing. Aroma is very fragrant with berries, a nice fresh smell, not artificial. Rather bland fizzy mouthfeel, but a god balance of wheat beer with fresh berry flavor, not sweet, the berries don't overwhelm. Fruit flavored beer is not my favorite style, but this is nice and refreshing, the berry flavro doesn't become annoying or tiring. Well done.

smells of fresh fruit. acai, strawberry, very fruity smell along with wheat in the smell too.
its slightly sour from being tart. its decent. definitely can taste the wheat too.
it has a lot of carbonation. its average.
overall, not a beer i'll be having again. i've had way worse, just nothing i'd go out of my way to get.

I drink straight Acai juice every day in a shot glass as it is very sour and strong tasting. This beer takes the chance of using a tart berry in a wheat beer and it kinda works. The beer is slightly tart and dry on the finish and wheat part is quite down the line American wheat style. The problem with this beer is that is pretty bland and the lack of sweetness moves into an area that lambic occupy but this beer has none of the complexity needed. Drinkable but not worth a second taste

Appearance - White foamy one finger head with low retention. Hazy yellow amber body with a small amount of sediment.

Smell - Fresh and fruity. Definite berry smell.

Taste - Very bland. Surprisingly dry, especially considering the sweet undertones in the smell. Tastes like a very, very watered down lambic or gueuze.

Mouthfeel - Watery. Somewhat crisp. At least it's not fake and syrupy.

Overall Drinkability - I guess this beer is interesting in its own way, but I don't see myself liking it, even if this beer accomplished exactly what it set out to be. Who knows if that is even the case though. Might work well as a light, refreshing Michelob Ultra alternative on a hot day, if that's your kind of beer.

Many thanks to resi for sending this beer. Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is rather mild, some berries. Taste is also of berries, some wheat, a bit sour at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has good drinkability. Overall this is a good quality beer.

A - Pours a slightly hazed bright yellow. Almost light beer looking since it pretty much is with a half inch of carbonated head that clears rather quickly.

S - Smells of wheat and a berry smell.

T - Can't say I ever drank Acai Berry but it kind of had apricot or grapefruit dryness with a hint of plum. Sort of like a soda and little to no wheat or malt. Very dry.

M - Dry and thin. Watery even.

Overall I wouldn't get this again but I am a sucker for fruit beers and the person at the D's recommended it to me as pretty decent. I should have got the Samuel Smith Cherry beer since it had more ABV and I knew for a fact it was good. Still it wasn't undrinkable and interesting to say the least. Worth at least a B score.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip pint glass. A little bit hard to quality this as beer... but hey, here's the review anyway:

A: Pours a slightly hazy watery yellow color with half a finger of white head that had dissipated in the time it took me to look at the glass, rinse the empty bottle out with water, and look back.

S: All I'm really getting here is a light berry smell, similar to the strength found in flavored bottled water. The berry aroma is a good deal away from smelling like freshly picked ones, and well on its way to air freshener category.

T: Generic "malt" flavor that can be found in American adjunct lagers and more of the same berry flavor from the smell; at least it's faint instead of tasting like syrup.

M: Thin body, lively carbonation that lends it an almost soda-like quality. Dry finish with ingering metallic taste.

D: Now that my review's finished, it's hard to find a reason to keep drinking this. Not interested in the flavors it has to offer, even if it hypothetically should go down like water.

Props to Eel River for producing easy to find organic beers; it's nice to have the option to buy them... even if this one isn't so good.

Part of a random six pack I put together at New Beer. Couldn't find enough questionable winter warmers that were new to me.

Organic(& possibly fresh as the full shelf would usually indicate, but not always; no BBD).

Rounded pint glass. No added coloring. Just a plain chill hazed yellow gold. Inch of lightweight white head. Active carbonation.

Smell is of unidentifiable berry & berry-flavored Nerds candy(dusty corn syrup). Perfumey.

Taste is a briefly sweet, barely tart, dry berry wheat beer. Berry/red grape tartness lingers around a bit gaining just a puff of bitterness in the finish.

Feel is glassy, moderately carbed & dry. Faint wheat texture. Alcohol is negligible.

I felt a bit "off" after drinking this. Never had anything acai to compare this too.

Poured in to a hefe glass. 1 finger, white head. Clear, golden body.

Smell had hints of berry. Some light ester with mild maltiness. Pretty mellow.

Taste had a noticeable berry flavor with a mellow sweetness. Crisp and clean finish with some lingering berry flavor.

Mouthfeel had a light body with a medium/high carbonation level. Crisp finish.

Drinkability was good. Nice and light with some mellow but noticeable flavors, especially the berry.

Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with minimal head and no lacing. The aroma is of berries and, well, that's about it. The flavor is most similar to a bud light with a small shot of some acai berry syrup. You either love or hate this beer; I choose to hate.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #40 (May 2010):

The new berry of the month is now a beer flavor. We're not sure about the level of antioxi- dants per 22-ounce bottle though.

Actively flowing carbonation holds a stiff white head together. With a faintly hazed, pale golden color and berry nose, there is not much else to the beer. This super-crisp brew is palate cleansing and very dry ... bone dry. Beery flavor up front drops a faux sweetness, which quickly dissipates to show that dryness again. Light body, check. Simple malt base, check. Hops? Hello?! OK, so hops took a break here, though with the dryness, they weren't really needed. Faint berry flavor in the end with a very clean aftertaste.

Possibly straying away from beer here; I am thankful the berry character is not turned up too high. On par with the 1990s fruit craze. Decent.

Pours a amber/yellow color with a pure white head. Big carbonation bubble and a bit of berry aroma -- as my wife said, smell more berry than most beers -- though not super strong aroma.

It is very sweet, almost too sweet for the carbonation level and how the flavors hit the tongue. There is a berry flavor there, though like the aroma it is mild. In general, cannot taste any bitterness.

There is a bit of a strange after taste which I assume comes from the berries.

Not my cup of tea overall, especially as I pushed through the glass. But I could see this being a bit hit with non-beer drinkers or people just starting out.

Pours pale, yellow. No berriness. Not really much beeriness, even.

Smells like an unspiced, unadventurous pale wheat, along with a little bit of pleasant berry. Nothing in the aroma seems especially Acai--if you told me it was raspberry, I'd believe you--but the berries taste like actual berries, not like chemical syrup, and that's always a good things.

Tastes a little better than I'd anticipated. This is miles away from a beer geek's beer--it's tame, it's fruity, and it's sweet. But it's still beer. It doesn't taste like a soda, and it doesn't taste like beer that's had a Jolly Rancher dissolved in it.

Not a very good beer really at all.
Pours a golden wheat color with a white head and no lacing, massive carbonation. Looks like a soda.
Smells fruity and sweet, kind of boozy.
Tastes like licking an acai berry and drinking some club soda. Doesn't really taste like a beer more like soda. No hop or malt character really there, maybe adjuncts.
Mouthfeel: with such massive carbonation it felt like a soda.
Not very drinkable.

Only $2 for this bomber, just had to give it a try.

Appearance- Pours a very light copper with a quickly disipating/fizzy 2 finger head. Clear with a couple tiny particles floating around.

Smell- sweet and tart, like candy. Berry and wheat, so far this seems to be as advertised.

Taste- Sugary and sweet, but that definitly is an Acai flavor. Not detecting any hops really, seems more like a malt beverage than a beer. But I dont mind it.

Mouthfeel- high carbonation, crisp, goes down easy.

Overall- This is different but not bad. The price and the sheer uglyness of this label definitly captured my attention! For 2 bucks I dont regret this purchase at all. The more I drink, it reminds me alot of a berliner weisse, fairly similar to the bells oarsman.

Pours a pale yellow with very little head. Infact the head was almost non existent

Smells like berries.

This beer tasted watered down. I tasted a hint of berry, but nothing else.

highly carbonated.

This beer did nothing to impress me. Nothing stuck out and grabbed my attention.

I had previously had a Raven's Eye Imperial Stout from Eel River and really enjoyed, so this one seemed like a good 6-pack to pick up on a hot Labor Day.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into an imperial pint glass... clear yellow color with a minimal white bubbly head. Eh... not so good so far.

Strong berries on the nose, hints of wheat but not much else. It's not bad, I do enjoy the berry aromas.

The berry is less prominent on the tongue and the wheat is a bit more heavy, but overall a thin mouthfeel and nothing else to speak of. I do enjoy the slightly bitter fruit taste to it.

A decent Summer fruit beer for enjoying when it's hot as hell outside, not much more than that.

22oz bomber, a surprise find at the Village Green Liquor store in Vernon, BC.

This beer pours a slightly hazy medium straw colour, with one finger of soapy white head, which falls away quite quickly, leaving nary a speck of lace around the glass. It smells of sweet berry fruit, kind of like a mix of blueberry and red grapes, and mild grainy wheat. The taste is soft, mild, fruity acai berry, some wheatiness, and a bit of edgy, weedy hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weight, smooth, and fruity. It finishes fairly sweet, the blend of berry and wheat consistent.

Not bad, not great, just a well-balanced fruit beer. I like it - it went down pretty fast...

Poured a yellowish brown with a thin white head and left a little bit of lacing on the glass. The aroma was pretty fruity with the acai berries really coming out nice that had wheat, malt, slight citrus, and hop notes. The grains really stand out on the flavor but mesh well with the acai berries which make for a good fruit beer. The hops and citrus really accent the flavor and help on the overall taste. The brew was light to medium body with a fair amount of bubbly carbonation that had a sweet and citrusy crisp finish. It drank really good and is probably one of my top 5 as far as fruit beers go and not to mention that it is organic as well.

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a very clear straw color with a thing white head. Small amounts of carbonation rose from the bottom. Aroma was an almost sickly sweet berry scent, strongly of blackberry, or perhaps acai. Taste was offputting, a strange combo of wheat and berry. Neither overpowered the other, but it just didn't seem to work either. Carbonation was overwhelming in the mouth, the bubbles tingled on the toungue the entire sip. If the flavor and carbonation weren't as offputting, this could easily be a sessionable beer.

Light and fruity is what I wanted, and with this baby, that's what you get. Nothing heavy, just a light, fruity, slightly wheat yeast taste.

This was the last of a bunch of summer beers given to me as a gift. Like most, I would never have bought them and I would be unlikely to buy again, but its not like I hated this.

Its a quality product and a smooth, drinkable,. refreshing beverage.

This was hands down the worst beer of the day at the Oregon Brewers Festival. I don't know what possessed these guys to even pour tastes of this foul swill!

A - flat, weird color, looks like something a Klingon would drink.

S - medicinal. That's all. Like dimetapp or robitussin... sickly

T - so artificial and medicinal. Seriously... like taking medicine before bed

M - Light, but sticky... can't get flavor out of mouth...

D - I would rather drink Corona than this... at least Corona doesn't taste like anything.
