In Germany this style (Altbier) was my second favourite (right after Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel, of course).
I haven't had this kind of beer in 5 years, so when I found this bottle today in the Beer Stop in Hazelton (and for a good price even, 1.75 $), I didn't hesitate to buy it. I had never seen it before, so I thought it was a specialty of some kind.
It poured a dark amber into my glass, with a beige thick head. Not much aroma there, very slight hops smell.
Taste was overwhelmingly hoppy. Very bitter. I don't remember the Altstadt Alt by Barre Braeu had been that bitter.
Not bad though, just an unusual taste.
After the foamy head was desolved, thick lacing stayed behind.
It is definately an acceptable beer, but nothing outstanding. I might try this again some time, but not immediately.

Stopped by the publick house for a bite and to pick up some IRS bottles. Ordered a flight with bratwurst. Brew arrivedin a few ounce sample pour. Copper color. Fairly malt forward with a soft hop. German crystalized malts. Nice easy drinker nothing mind blowing. Good altbier.
