Purchased single bottle from Martignetti's
Appearance = Dark rootbeer brown with hues of deep amber and a reddish tint. Not much head at all and very little lacing. Bubbles stick to the side of the glass which is peculiar.
Smell = Cherries and fermentation. It's fruity and smells stronger than 5.1%. There's a bit of a must underneath the fruit which doesn't smell nice and knocks it down a notch. Not much hops presence, but a good bit of malt. OK scent but below average. note: as it warms the scent gets more foul and begins to remind me of rotting leaf piles that you rake up in the Fall.
Taste = Not offensive but just blandness. Incredibly bland, bready aftertaste with no lingering flavors. Terribly balanced. No complexity. This is just a poorly made beer. It's not revolting on the palate but I see no reason to drink more than one of these and will not do so in the future. In fact, I might pour the rest of this bottle out as there's better things to fill my stomach.
Overall = Very disappointing. I've had MUCH better altbiers. I do not recommend this one at all. The smell as it warms really gets quite offensive.

Stopped by the publick house for a bite and to pick up some IRS bottles. Ordered a flight with bratwurst. Brew arrivedin a few ounce sample pour. Copper color. Fairly malt forward with a soft hop. German crystalized malts. Nice easy drinker nothing mind blowing. Good altbier.
Serving type: on-tap
