Off-white head, one centimeter in height, declines to a ring around the glass with a few islands of foam. Carbonation is quite visible within the clear, copper-colored beer. No real streaks or lacing.
Scent is deeply tied to cereal grains along with some caramel and fruit essences. Taste is moderately bitter malts with a slight bit of pear-like fruitiness and acidity. Fully developed, bready or biscuity taste with some mild hops in the aftertaste. Malt and hop aspects of this beer are well-balanced, correct for the style.
Medium-bodied with carbonation sharpness that feels a bit too strong for the thickness. Dry finish closes out the sip nicely.
The Secret Ale is nothing extraordinary or exciting, rather average all-around. Maltiness and bitterness abound in scent and taste, but there's little depth or distinction, while the carbonation level is a bit too strong. Together, these make for a less than exceptional brew and experience.

Stopped by the publick house for a bite and to pick up some IRS bottles. Ordered a flight with bratwurst. Brew arrivedin a few ounce sample pour. Copper color. Fairly malt forward with a soft hop. German crystalized malts. Nice easy drinker nothing mind blowing. Good altbier.
