Six-pack purchased from Syosset Beverage ~mid Feb 2011
Appearance: Rich full brown color. No noticeable haze or discoloration.
Smell: Malt Sugar! Very sweet malt nose. Maple syrup Dark Caramel. Butter toffee. Probably a bit excessive.
Taste: Excessively sweet. very malt sugar. Like stirring in malt power. heavy middle notes of "cooked" sweets, coating "burnt" finish that won't leave.
Mouthfeel: Heavy, viscous, like drinking thin syrup.
Drinkability: Better when very cold, but gets progressively worse as it warms up in the glass.
Not recommended. Disappointed, because I know Southampton can do better than this.
