2013 edition Bottle #431/450. Thanks to Pat for sharing.
Midnight black with an impressive, persistent mocha head. Totally looks the part.
High cocoa dark chocolate, fennel, aniseed, tobacco. Hints at sweetness via fleeting wafts of carmael fudge, but otherwise it's uncompromisingly dry.
Feel is full and even. Booze is well contained.
One of the more impressive and untarnished RIS's around. Unapologetically roasty and ballsy.

Poured this 2 year old vintage the night before picking up this years allotment. It poured a deep black with slight tan head that lasted long than I thought. It was terrific. The alcohol was buried and the toasty chocolate flavors were prevalent.
The next day we tried the 2014 release on tap at The Publick House....this beer needs every bit of the 2 years that the 2012 had.
The 2012 was fantastic and I'd bet will age gracefully for more than the 2 years I gave it. I will certainly be giving the 2013 and 2014 vintages the same treatment.
