Shining gold with eighteen karat shimmer and a stiff head of wheat proteins and pils silk. Legs and stain to spare with great sustain. As thick and varied as beer appearance can display.
Smells of spices stinging with a raggedy sharp tartness and almost clovey phenolic herb tingle. A lot of textural metaphors but the hops truly created a surface with tempo and true complexity. Opens to small tropical fruit esters, more pineapple and sweet orange than else.
Taste is a confluence of cottony full grain flavors of Continental base malt, citric yeast acid-fruit, and a mix of spice and hop flavor of bitter greens and hay. Attenuation is high and every corner is stuffed full of action yet, somehow, is never busy or blitzing. The key seems to be a malt backing that is not a blank canvas but a wall of warm harmony to elevate natural sweetness to the myriad yeast and hop flavors.
Mr. Markowski is really flexing the saison yeast to its full display of complexities with a deft malty backing that is both light and full. Just enough hop touch for refreshment on an already dry finish. Pounding with verve, true verve.

Poured from a bottle given as a gift, I don't know if this is worth the price or not.
Rated as a beer entirely on its own merit, I'd say this is quite good. Crisp and not overwhelming in any way, I'd say this is even better than most readily available saisons

Growler courtesy of Azurelimits. Served in a Bruery tulip.
Pours a light copper color with a mild white head and a bit of lacing as it goes down my glass. The nose brought some mild hay along with a bit of earth. Those were the strongest components, though there was also a bit of clove and banana in the background. SOme additional spicing as well. Flavor had a really nice earthy presence and amplified everything else from the nose. Good bit of light grain and hay as well. Body was medium with good carbonation and a slightly-dry finish.

On Tap at Capone's for a saison event, this is from old notes.
A-Dark copper penny with a ring of suds around the glass, spots in the middle, no lace.
S- Getting barnyard hay and some fruit with pears and pineapple. Earthy hops, a str8 forward saison.
T- Hay, straw, light fruits, apple, pear, no banana thank god! yeasty, bready. This is a old keg, so the hops are not in the picture but do impart a nice earthy taste.
M- Medium bodied, lighty carbed, finishes dry. Long linger of barnyard afterwards.
D- I liked this saison and if I see it on tap again I'll probably go for it.

750ml bomber: This one pours a hazy, golden straw yellow color. There was a huge frothy white head on mine, so much that it was difficult to pour. The aroma is very nice. Floral, grassy, some citrus and faint spice. The taste is very good. slightly tart, with a faint bit of apple and citrus in there. Slight spice, wheat, grassiness. This is a very nice beer. Too bad I seem to have one of the last.

On tap at capones.
A- watery yellow orange in color with a small ring and a faint wisp of head on top.
S- sweet and floral with honey and hibicus. Mild spice and a hint of grassy herbs.
T- lavender honey and fresh cut flowers. Lots of sweet malts and fruits. Mild earthy hops adding just the right amount of bitter against the sweet.
M- medium to full in body with a light yet effervescent carb that cut the slightly syrupy brew. Semi dry finish.
D- very drinkable. Lots of sweetness and florals that make for a very different and interesting saison. I like it, I like it a lot.

Poured into a tulip glass. The head is small and white. Quickly fades. Beautiful honey color.
The smell is of pale hops, dry and bitter. Citrus, pear, mango, a bit of a farmhouse funk but real subtle. Hay, wheat, grass all undertones.
The taste is dominated in the front by citrus and pale malt. Then iI taste pear, grapefruit, mango, and some spice. In the back, it becomes bitter and dry, making way for the farm - hay, grass, wheat; they all linger on my tongue. Really nice, complex but subtly so. I love a humble beer.
Mouthfeel is smoooth. Not too bitter, nice and peppery. 5 minutes after taking a sip, I can still taste the hay on my tongue.
This is one of the most drinkable beers I've ever come across. I think the subtlety of this beer is the key, what a quiet storm! I love Southampton for what they're doing for the Belgian style in the States.

Pours hazy pale straw, bit of an orange glow, thin white creamy head on top.
Nose is orangey, some clove, bit of herbal hops, but peppery.
taste is orangey marmalade, herbal hops, peppery, just a bit tangy, with a light, tangy yeast presence.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, bit slick, almost buttery, with a carbonation that's light, creamy, and not at all sharp.

Thanks again to waltonc for this one as well as part of our Thanksgiving extravaganza.
A: Pours a hazy orange/yellow with thick white head.
S: Citrusy, orange and lemon in particular. Good spice. No funkiness at all.
T/M: Citrus and bread-like malt. Spicy (coriander) and herbal. Good carbonation and medium body.
D: Quite drinkable.
A well done representation of the style. I like saisons with a little more funk and less sweetness, but overall tasty brew.

A - Dense beautiful meringue head clinging to sides of the Burgundian wine glass consumed from. Somewhat murky pale-golden yellow appearance.
S - Great fruitiness, citrus, dried fruit.
T - More fruity esters from exotic (pineapple) to dried apricot, some flowers and a touch of medicinal and hoppiness to keep it tight. Very complex.
M - Soft and juicey full but not layered.
D - Low hops can make for good drinkability as it does in this one.
Best American Saison tasted.

750ml bottle
Pours a slightly murky straw color with a slight orange hue. Mountainous cream colored head that expands well beyond the confines of the glass and is slow to recede. Thick lacing on the glass.
Aroms ia bready and yeasty with a hint of hops and light spiciness.
Bready and yeasty upfront leading into a slight malty flavor. A bit of herbal hops and some bitterness jump in. A bit of spices just before it finishes dry with a lingering aftertaste.
Medium body, creamy texture, full carbonation.
A competent saison, but just not as complex as I would like. Certainly worth a try.
