The beer poured into the glass very slightly hazy golden amber (copper) with an almost yellow head which rose tall and fell slowly to coat the glass.
The aroma was fruity with a nice citrus aroma and a strong nutty character. The aroma also contained a nice caramel malt aroma with a fruity and floral punch.
The flavor was bittered nicely with a subtle citrus character that was piney and resinous, but not a phelm stripper, more subtle and refined. The bittering and flavor hops were well balanced with a nice malty backbone of caramel. Bittering still took the balance prize but the flavors were well done.
The finish was dry with a lasting caramel malt impression just overshadowed by the resinous hop presence. The body was just above medium and well done.
In this age of over the topness, this well achieved and well balanced beer was a welcomed surprize.
22 ounce bottle. Thanks dmeadows and OneBoxBIF!
