How come Southampton only has one h? Pours a darker orange color with a coppery hue. Good clarity A soft but limited head with not much on the retention or lacing. A bit dark for style.
The nose is limited. The malt notes come out more than the hops. Some grainy notes with a hint of caramel. A like toast as well. Some minor hop notes with a mix of herbal and citrus notes. Mostly clean with a light yeast note. Even as an East Coast IPA this is limited on the hops department.
The taste is similar although the hops come out a bit more versus the nose. More along the lines of a pale ale. Some citrus and earthy notes but a light herbal almost hibiscus flavor. Some hints of bitterness but very limited, and could use more to balance the finish. The malt comes on in the finish with a touch filmy caramel note. Some light yeast notes with a hint of butyric.
The body is between light and medium. Carbonation is light as well. Overall very limited IPA.
