I really liked this place!

It's very non-descript from the outside but when you walk in the front door and then enter the brewery from the lobby, you are faced with the brewing tanks in an old, brick industrial building.

When you turn to the left, you see some tables in the middle-ground and the bar with windows at the end of the long room.

As you walk towards the bar you notice an art gallery in a room on the left. Big kudos for this.

The bar is at the far left and to the right are comfy sofas and easy chairs. Nice art and posters decorate the walls. The large windows look out on the Muskingum River.

My friend and I ordered our beer. He had the sampler and I had a pint of the Wiley Wolverine Rye Pale, which I enjoyed quite a bit. We took our beers outside to the patio to comfortable tables and chairs overlooking the river.

It's really extra nice on the deck in good weather. You look out on the river. Behind you is a high-quality Weasel Boy mural and to the sides are hop trellises with fragrant buds this time of year.

We ordered another round and this time we both had the Bitter Sable Imperial Black IPA, which we both thought was very good.

As the sun set, we started chatting convivially with the people at the table next to us. One fellow, Daniel, is a fine photographer and his buddy helped paint the mural behind us. Other folks came onto the patio later and sat down with us at our table as we all enjoyed each others' company. Right about then, a racoon wandered by the river bank in front of us.

I really like this place! I've been to a LOT of brew pubs around the country and the atmosphere and environs at this place are really top notch; even compared to the great brew pubs in Portland, OR. Weasel Boy might get my highest rating except for the food, which is basically high-end pizzas contracted from a local supplier. We didn't have the pizza, and it too may be excellent, but be aware this is not a restaurant. Even so, if you are anywhere in the area, it is worth going out of your way to stop here!

I visited this brew pub on July 11, 2014.

It was a nice little hole in the wall brewery. Old-school warehouse setting with a small tap room that doubled as the brew room. I came in very open-minded having heard good things about the brewery and with the intent of going home with a growler. The atmosphere was my favorite part of the experience, it was a very laid back setting with cool old-time decor, magazines, art, games, etc. Talking with the bartender about the history of the place and about the people who brew the beer, their styles, interests etc. is kind of what saved the experience for me. I tried all 8 beers on tap, and nothing really stood out to me as great, some were rather poor (**for my particular taste!!), but I was able to appreciate the effort they put toward fulfilling their dreams as brewers, the styles of beers they preferred, and type of business structure they were going for. Needless to say, I ended up going home without a growler, although the Bourbon Scottish was very tempting!! All of these external aspects outside of the beer itself leads me to giving a better review that I would have given if I were to try all of these beer samples blindfolded. They whip up some pretty good hand crafted pizzas too, which was a minor plus. All in all, I enjoyed the experience, but the beers on tap that day weren't necessarily for me. No disrespect to the brew or brewers!

I have stopped by here a few times.

Location is great. With a small patio river view. Inside is pretty large It can hold decent amount of folks. Has a coffee/cafe atmosphere about the place. Free WiFi. The brews are super all on tap, have not reached to doing any in bottles yet. They now do there own from scratch pizzas, using a wholewheat flour which is something I don't see done that often. But they are great. Beer and pizza cant beat that.
No buck a pitcher nights at this place.. Which is great as it keeps away the quantity folks.
This place is for quality beer lovers.!

Zanesville isn't much to write home about in general according to my friends that live here, but Weasel Boy is a pretty good excuse to stop in if you're nearby. The place is rather inviting and laid back. The beers are pretty good. The service is good. The pizza is great. The people that inhabit the pub are also great.

The beers lean heavily toward sessionable, with many of them having some proportion of wheat. Their Wardance Wheat IPA is excellent. I was sad that their stout wasn't on at the time, since I have been steering away from hoppy stuff recently. Their wheat beer was out also, and the blonde ran out just after I showed up today. Dancing Ferret IPA was by far the hoppiest thing on the menu on my visits, clocking in at about 90 IBU, and a few of their beers register below 20 IBU as I recall. My only complaint would be the gaps in their beer menu; it consisted primarily of wheat beers and paler stuff. Their PawPaw Pale is an odd thing if you're not familiar with the pawpaw fruit, and even if you are familiar with it it is an odd flavor. Their Plaid Ferret scottish ale is the wild card among the current taps, and unusually low alcohol (4.9% I think) for the style. The Mango Wheat leaned a bit toward peach, as mango frequently does in a beer. Overall I liked them, but I had my sights set on something darker and more robust.

In the few days I have spent in Zanesville I made as many stops in for a pint or 2. It only took one visit to feel like a regular patron, though, and I assume on my next visit to Weasel Boy someone will recognize me- it's that sort of place. As much as I enjoyed the wheat beers I really would like to try their darker offerings, which have won medals at GABF. For now I'll be satisfied with knowing that I have just another reason to drop in and see my friends, who live a block away from the Weasel.
