Well filtered bubblesless amber red with a lacing from a tan head cap.

Plenty of red apple aroma goodness and some spices of cinamon scents.

First swigs: Some spice cake meet the hops, but overwhelm them. Red apples malt and fruity ale esters abound. Overall, the "red" aspects are mild.

Medium bodied and crisp feel. Dry finish with a slight sizzle hop feel.

This beer has an interesting color to it - its definately amber but with almost an opague black hew to it depending on the light. Good balanced amount of head. It has a good malt character but isn't too sweet and has a slightly bitter and peat type finish. It has a mild smoky armoma and flavor that complements the medium sized body. It does not have a very floral aroma but instead has many other earthy hints to it. Defenitly worth trying.

This was the first tapping of this batch of The Ettinger, and it boasted its freshness. Another 20 oz. pint. Deeper scarlet red with a thin but enduring head. Mild green hop aroma, sweet malt smell. Taste is a combination of malt flavors, some almost peat, some bread. Nice sweet taste with a slight hint of a stout finish. Just a slight smokey aftertaste, but otherwise clean.
