Just had on-tap today for lunch... a nice ice cold pour at that. I like my beer cold no matter the style. The one I had was actually 7.3% I believe.

- Great head... slight redish, and copper head... about a solid finger that stuck around... left a little blanket of foam that lasted the whole beer. Redish and slightly cloudy brew... could see through it though.

- Nice bready and slightly sweet malt with a touch of Belgian yeast scent, and nice bitter hops... some pine, grass...

- I must say, a very well rounded, smooth, and balanced beer without being too "Belgiany". I am not a huge fan of Belgians... and is is a nice NW edition of a red ale with Belgian yeast. Not overly bready, banana... creamy etc... yet still malty, smooth, and balanced. Loved the hops... perfect balance.. and the water just tasted cold, and crisp.. and almost seperated itself from all of the other flavors.

- Medium bodied... great carbonation... and smooth.

- I don't know about the other reviews before, but I am impressed with this interesting blend of American style, and Belgian... this isn't supposed to be a spot-on Belgian brew... but a NW edition brewed with Belgian yeast. Maybe you guys need to go grab an Orval and touch base with a beer... from Belgium.

Had on-tap at the Battleground, WA pub poured into an imperial half pint.

appearance - amber body, lightly tan head and lacing

smell - malt, yeast, hops

taste - belgian yeast, malt, a bit of funk, bitter finish

mouthfeel - medium, adequate carbonation

drinkability - beer was consistent, the bitterness started to wear, not very session-able

Consumed at Laurelwood 51st/Sandy location 5/7/2010. 6.8% ABV, 55 IBU, 16 Plato.

Hazy reddish amber body, some visible carbonation. Thin layer of head, good retention, not much lacing. Big malty nose, sweetish/bready with a bit of funk from Belgian yeast strain, floral hops on backend. Taste is pretty sweetish up front, some fruit re dark cherries, a bit ashy, this yeast gave this a pretty funky profile with a fairly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is fairly full, not much effervescence. To be honest, not my favorite Laurelwood brew, probably due to the funky yeast strain. I'd like to see Chad brew a red halfway between Free Range and the awesome Deranger. Worth a try for those who palates have accepted The Funk.
