My best review ever...got this at an open bar at a wedding. It is truly awful. Makes bud light seem tasty. I'm am just writing this sentence to get to 250 characters. Seriously still not 250 characters? How about now? Holy shit still not at 250, but this beer is still unbelievably terrible almost beyond explanation

12oz bottle served in a pint glass.

pours a clear, straw yellow tone while yielding a short lived finger or so of a spritzy white head. no real retention or lacing to speak of. not atypical for the style. very muted nose is mainly grain, corn, and *maybe* a slight touch of hops hiding in the background. not impressed.

taste is not very good. not because it's repulsive, but more because there is nothing to taste; somehow even more muted than the aroma. light corn and grain element. thin bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall, nothing i will waste my time with again. its only real selling point is that it's relatively inoffensive. unless you're offended by bland, flavorless beers.

Nothing more stupid than light beer. That makes a lot of Americans stoopid too. But this light beer passes my taste test. Clean crisp dry and hoppy. A little bitter, but not a bad ale as ales go. Carbonation is a little intense for me, but then again it's night a fizzy budweiser.

Fans of one of my favorite international soccer teams, The Orange of The Netherlands, so rejoice with this nice beer. Good luck today, Orange!

Oh What? Well, this little silly goes very well with the music of Dutch masters drummer Han Bennink and Pianist Mengelberg maybe on ce entitled '3 Points and a Mountain' with German sax player Brotzmann!

Poured into a 20 ounce Carlsberg pilsner-style glass. The beer is a clear golden color with small bubbles rising from the bottom. A thick foamy white head sits on top. It dissipates to a thin film of white, and nice lacing coats the glass. The beer smells metallic and of corn husks like most macro lagers. The taste is like the old motto, "It just tastes like beer" or whatever it was. It's corn-husk, grainy, and metallic. It tastes like macro beer. The mouthfeel is light bodied and carbonated.

Overall, I'll drink this beer any day of the week over any American Adjunct Lager. I was surprised at how good the appearance was, perhaps it was the glass I used. But anyway, a good beer to session during a sporting event. I actually like this macro.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale straw yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy white head that dissipates almost immediately leaving just the thinnest of rings at the edge of the glass. Minimal lacing is observed.

S: Extremely mild aromas of adjunct malts (corn and grain) along with some subtle hints of grassy hops.

T: The beer has some flavors of bready malts with some additional corn sweetness to it, there is a light amount of bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Thin and watery.

O: Easy to drink and sessionable but not one of my favorites and not one that I will have very often. At the open bars at many receptions and conferences, this is often the best choice but otherwise I might avoid it.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a very pale straw color with a small white head. The head faded fast giving almost no lacing.

Smell - The smell is almost non-existent with just the tiniest aroma of corn and wheat cereal.

Taste – The taste is quite light and is of a little bit of breadiness as a base. At the start, there is a light corn taste that mixes with the bread. This sweetness diminishes some as the taste goes on and in the end just leaves a light cereal taste on the tongue.

Mouthfeel- The beer has a very thin body with a high level of carbonation – very fitting more the light tastes and body.

Overall – It is somewhat refreshing, but not flavorful at all. Possibly good on a very warm day, but otherwise not worth the time.

A nice beer for a lite. Pleasent hops taste, nice color. It purs with a weak head on my glass. Low carbonation. It has a nice palate for being a light beer. Better by far than most american light beers. I would drink it anyday of the week. I have not tasted the regular version, soon I am going to do it

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Pilsener glass

A - Light pale yellow, almost no head and some activity

S - Nice pronpunced malt, some sweet floral hops, best characteristic

T - Watery and bland, grainy, metallic

M - Smooth and refreshing, just like an AAL, easy to knock back

O - It's beer, that's about it

Skunky and sweet corn smells the tiniest amount of hops as well. It does have that skunky taste a bit with the sweet grainy corn malt and then ending with an almost metallic grainy bitterness/

Theres really not much to say about this beer its a light beer and its definitely drinkable. The off bitterness might set some people off but I know some of that is from the hops they do use in this beer so its not bad.

IT has a sweetness to it that makes you wanna keep drinking to balance out the grainy bitterness so you can easily go through a bunch of these if you wanted to. With that being said I'd take this over Coors or Bud Light anyday so its definitely better than those beers in my opinion.

12oz Bottle at Lavo nightclub at the palazzo las vegas

Appearance - Clear yellow colour with a small size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for only a few minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Bread, apples, corn syrup

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste light malts, corn syrup, and a bit of an apple sweetness. That's about it, it's very light tasting.

Overall - The beer selection was weak, so I tried something I hadn't had before. Not good.. I wouldn't drink this again unless it was free and I was planning on drinking 20 of them while camping.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass at Woodmore Country Club.

A: Pours a straw golden hue with a thin 2-finger white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Mild aroma of grains and hops. Thin nose – slightly skunky.

T: Typical lager flavor of mild grains and hops – slightly bitter and crisp.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Typical lager – nothing I would grab again – only drank this one because it was really the only thing available.

Pours a pale, golden yellow with a half of an inch of loose, bubbly, soap-like head that fades quickly. There are a ton of noticeable carbonation bubbles that rise to the surface. The nose is very faint and grainy. The flavor is also quite light but with a decent malt character that is grainy and slightly sweet. There are some very faint grassy notes in the finish. The mouthfeel is very light and crisp.

This is yet another lightly flavored, lager. It's drinkable and refreshing, but overall it's forgettable.

Nose is heavy on the grains - straw, wet hay, reminds me of my days working at a garden center. Pours like my piss after a week in the bush, plus a finger of a fizzy white cap. Ends up looking like a decent lager though to be honest. It’s got that metallic brown / corn presence that you’ll find in new castle, stella and the like. I have no idea what this comes from but it’s there across the board. Not off-putting really. Perfectly drinkable. I would never seek this out though. Overall, fine, yeah, it is what it is.

Poured from a 0.3 cl bottle.

Strong yellow-golden color.

Very thin head which disappears while you put the bottle aside.

None distinctive aroma.

Taste is thin and watery, almost as flat out.

My frst light beer, are they supposed to taste bad like that? Like every food and/or drink which is light "but good for you" ??

Poured from bottle provided at family gathering. I provided Hacker Pschorr and my brother-in-law provided this Aruban classic.
Pours a clear golden with a pure white fluffy head that disappeared almost immediately with no lacing on the pint glass.
Smells of wet grass with an unpleasant skunkiness.
Taste consistent with smell. High carbonation sizzles on the tongue and feels watery. Finishes quick and dry.
Overall this beer is not for me. I will happily drink while in the hot sun and gentle breezes at the pool at the all inclusive next time in Aruba but this is not a discretionary choice for me.

Amstel Light has a thin, white head and a clear, yellow-golden appearance, with some streaming bubbles and almost no lacing. The aroma has an initial strong whiff of barley malt, then it settles into a faint, sweet malt smell. The taste is water, lightly-roasted malt, a touch of hop bitterness, and sweetness. Mouthfeel is watery and thin, and Amstel Light finishes crisp, clean, mostly dry, and easy drinking. Overall, this is an okay light beer, and I guess it’s worth trying.

A: Pours with a light yellowish color, slight head.

S: unremarkable

Taste/mouth feel: somewhat refreshing. nothing great though.

O: A decent beer that fills the need while mowing the lawn or killing a thirst but fails in the long run. it's definitely better than bud light or Coors light but that doesn't mean much.

A: Pours a clear yellow with a fizzy white head that leaves little in the way of lacing.

S: Like most light lagers, there really isn't much of a scent to this beer. All I can detect is a little bit of straw, with some grassy hop and biscuit aromas behind it.

T: Fleeting notes of grass, lemon, straw, biscuits, minerals, and honey disappear after a couple of seconds in the mouth. The finish is virtually nonexistent, with only the faintest traces of grass and mineral flavors lingering in the mouth after the beer has been swallowed.

M: Very light-bodied, crisp, and dry.

O: This is a pretty standard light lager. Fortunately, it's better than Coors Light and Bud Light, but that's still not saying much.

Pours a crystal clear pale yellow water like color. A head of just forced almost fake like carbonation which is amazingly off putting.

Sweet grain cereal, a touch and I mean a touch of perhaps bananas and cloves? This has the subtle aromas of a hef but extremely subtle. I’m actually rather ok with this aroma. High hopes going from here. That said I may just be looking for aromas when they aren't there.

Well so much for that. There’s virtually nothing to even speak of in this beer’s flavors. It is bland just hints of grain and water.

Weird over carbonated….well it is a light lager I suppose.

This beer is terrible. I’m not sure what a light lager can do to make itself good, but this beer made no effort.

Served from a bottle right to my mouth...

A: I did not pour this in a glass. I was at a social function and this was offered. The bottle is average. I felt because I was drinking an Amstel Light, I was drinking the higher end light beer and that my host had great beer taste. I was wrong.

S: Skunky. I literally smelled the carbonation. Lacked a pleasurable scent

T: There was a lack of taste. Very weak bitterness, texture, and all round flavor.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation overload. I did not care for this. Watery tongue feel. Many traits of a cheap beer here.

Overall: I hate to rip on this beer. It is pricey and I know that the host of this party meant well. I can see why light beer drinkers like this beer. It is not the worst. I've certainly had better light beers. Note: I rarely drink light beers. When I have one, it is due to situations like this where it was all that was offered.

To sum it up. Not the best but better than a handful.

When you want a light lager (yes, those times do happen), Amstel is an excellent choice. A nicely colored light lager, it goes down like most every other light lager, with little no aftertaste. If you are looking for a light lager, this is probably one of your best options.

I think this beer gets a bad rap because of the pricing. I am assuming it is because it is not a domestic, so it is usually priced in the region of far better craft European or domestic beers.

A quality beer....as long as someone else pays for it. If your paying and want a light beer, just go American and buy twice as much beer for the same price.

All I can say is this is somewhat popular because its an import.
Over-priced swill - just as soon purchase a domestic.

Pours clear golden with little to no head or lace.
Smells somewhat grainy.
Taste is a bitter tastelessness, nothing terrible but not good either
Mouthfeel is what I consider the low point, very watery.

Overall, not worth purchasing at its price. Save your hard earned $$'s.

12 oz can out of a minibar hotel fridge (this was a $7.00 mistake. Should've opted for the $9 Chivas Regal...)

A: Really clear and chicken broth-like.

S: Smells somewhere between the spent grains at a BMC brewery tour and the pile of old beer cans your neighbor leaves out behind their house on a hot summer day.

T: Tastes like the smell, but cold.

M: Carbonation is welcome as it seems to move the awful flavors off of your tongue as quickly as possible.

D: No.

Poured 39 degrees into a Dogfish Head bulbed pint. No born date.

Pours a lucid gold with a 3 finger white head that disspiates very quickly into a consistent cap.

Smells of some urine, a hint of yeast and a tertiary sweatiness. Yummy.

Taste is a little bit smoother than I expected, but I wasn't expecting a tremendous amount. Slides over the palate with a thin dryness that ends up turning into a hint of corn on the drydown. Feels sort of flat already.

Overall, probably a drainpour. Not much going on here in terms of identity next to any other light beer.

Golden and clear appearance with a decent light and white head that forms. Some corn and grain in the nose mixed in with a little rag weed and some citrus. Very mellow taste, slight sweetness from the malt with a touch of grain and hay. Nice mild bitterness in the finish. Smooth and light mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed it. It is what it is, a fairly simple light lager.
