12 oz can, no clear bottling date.

appears a super pale golden color, fizzy white head that quickly fades to nothing. aroma reaks of that typical adjuct smell. bland corny and pale malt flavor. no hops. bearable when cold, but goes downhill way fast as it warms. body is thin and fizzy.

ug. "the beer drinker's light beer" this is not. avoid!

Expected better than what I got. Wasn't too bad but not my type of beer. Didn't like the aftertaste. The flavor is only slightly better. A little light grain and the slightest hint of hops. Very weak in my eyes overall.

It pours a clear, light yellow body. Good white head initially, but it fades quickly and leaves nothing behind.

Very light aroma of lager yeast and a touch of grain. Not much going on.

So bad it does not deserve a full review.

Looks like carbonated water with added beer color white head that was not there when I put the bottle down. way too fizzy. Hazy gold in color taste and flavor are flat zero watery Craaaappy save your money.

I bought a 12 pack based on their motto that it is a beer drinkers light beer. It took me over a month to drink the 12'er. It became my beer of last resort. God awful front end and back end taste. This is garbage. I would not recommend this beer and have told many to avoid.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. No dating present. Clear, light yellow body. Good white head initially, but it fades quickly and leaves nothing behind.

Very light aroma of lager yeast and a touch of grain. Not much going on.

The flavor is only slightly better. A little light grain and the slightest hint of hops (noble?). Very weak overall.

Nearly the same consistency as water. I did not find this beer offensive, but it was not very good either.

Randomly found this in a cooler in my garage.

At first it was like hm this is sort of like carbonated water, not beery but not bad, but then it just flew off the rails.

It is a clear gold. Taste and flavor are near nil. Watery, not as good as mineral water. Crappy beer. Not worth buying, it sucks.

Bottle review dated 12/19/2008.

Gag me. This beer shows how uninformed a lot of people are. It costs more because it is an "import." The fact is that it is really just a Dutch version of Bud Light. It sucks.

Pale golden color with a small fizzy white head. Adjunk aroma. Amstel Light is slightly malty relative to its American low-end brethren, with hints of dirt, cast iron, and general badness. Unpleasant bitterness and a touch of metal. Unexciting mouthfeel. Terrible aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours straw hue with a lasting white head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Nose is light grassy hay that reminds me of a standard European macro. Light, watery body. Unpleasant bitter taste probably from hops extract. I finished the bottle only because I had to flush a sandwich with something.

A: Straw yellow and very clear. 2 finger head rapidly dissipates.

S: very malty, sour aroma.

T: Bitter hops, corn and malts add to the sweetness.

M: Light as it gets. Crisp, refreshing beer.

Overall: Light beers are why I thought I didn't like beer in my early drinking days. But I want to try as many as I can and light beers are still beers.

As you can imagine, it seems to be a watered down version of Amstel. Any head that forms will vansish quickly. Distinguishing smells are not there, and the taste is not noteworthy or special. A very typical macro brew. It comes in plastic liters in parts of Europe so that was convenient.

A-Pours a shade darker than most Macros I have come across. Head is born and dies down to a skinny layer that sits atop the beer's body. Minute splotches of lacing dot the inside of the glass.

S-Trying to go for the Noble hop aroma here but I just get blindsided by skunk. One of the skunkier beers I have come across.

T-A bit better than the nose. Skunk aroma is lesser on the palate. Grains, and a bit of grass, then the skunk comes back. Not as unpleasant as I was expecting.

M-Light of course. The carbonation is not brazen.

O/D-Could be worse. End review.

Poured all head, standard BMC white. Settled down to a clear standard straw yellow. Smell has a hint of the start of skunking and standard grass and grain. Taste is just a standard BMC despite all the advertising claims that he has so much more flavor than other light beers. The only thing a little stronger than most lights is the bitter finish. So I'd say acceptable if you like standard BMC lights, but that's about it.

So continues my tour of the beer menu at a chain wing restaurant in Idaho Falls. My only other experience with this beer was in seeing it everywhere the last time I was at Wrigley Field.

This beer pours a clear, very pale yellow colour, with a few fingers of thin foamy white head, which leaves a nice Joshua tree profile of lace around the glass as it settles. It smells of thin pale cracker malt, mildly sour lemon, and skunky hops. The taste is diluted, somewhat sweet rice and malt grain, and a bit of weedy, skunky hops. The carbonation is on the low side, the body light in weight, tending towards feather, but strangely not thin or particularly watery. It finishes clean, and, there, now comes the watery, lack of anything else quality.

Innocuous, plain, and good for totally divided attentions, and evidently popped collars.

Beer poured from a bottle into a Mug shaped glass

A - Beer was visibly, very well carbonated; had a clear golden body; beer formed a frothy one finger sized white colored head from the pour; the head held well and had lots of lacing

S - Yeasty fruit aromas, followed up immediately with a grainy or corn smell; touch of dries hay; lager airiness

T - Grain and corn flavors; lager crisp and dry flavors; clean wash of alcohol flavor malt taste followed up with a touch of corn

M - Thin and watery; bubbly at first then turns thin; spoiled lingering flavor leads to a bitter aftertaste

D - OK, and not bad; its somewhat decent for a light beer and probably one of the lights I would choose for a Miller or Bud; low flavor profile, characteristic of a light beer, but not as much flavor as the ads claim the beer has; still tastes too watery

I can't believe I actually bought a single at the grocery store. I also can't believe this used to be my favorite beer, I would buy this if I were treating myself. I also can't believe I poured this into a glass and am judging it's appearance. Well I did.

Appearance-Pale light yellow with a white bubbly head that dissipates almost immediately. Little lacing.

Smell-Corn and Grain.

Taste-Some earthy tones and grassy funk. Drinkable though, and I'm trying to judge according to style.

Mouthfeel-Worst part. Tons of prickly carbonation, no body at all, had to choke this down.

Overall-Only positive is it's under 100 calories, besides that don't drink this unless you like Light Beers.

A- Pours a clear light gold with white head. Head is gone a in a flash and leaves pretty much no lacing.

S- Grains, very light floral hops, and a bit of corn.

T- This is pretty much water with a touch of corn, grains, and a hint of grassy hops.

M- Very light in body and quite a bit of carbonation.

O- No thanks on this one.

Aroma: Sulphur up front. Light grainy pilsner malt. A hint of herbalness.

Appearance: Pours thick three finger fluffy white head. Very clear. Light straw color. Dissipates slowly. Low lacing.

Flavor: Big grainy pils malt flavor. An astringent chalky finish. High bitterness for style. A nasty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, low light mouthfeel. Finish very dry.

Overall: A beautiful looking beer. Great color and clarity. High astringency and chalkiness kills this for me. I don't see me drinking this again.

From 05/29/11 notes. What to do when you're at a wedding where you don't know many people and they're only serving bad beers? Tick the beers you've been putting off reviewing and then switch to whiskey. Started with Amstel Light, poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip like glass.

a - Pours a yellow golden color with two inches of white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of wheat, grain, light sourness, bready malts, and rice. Not very good, and the light sourness makes me think skunked.

t - Tastes of sour notes, sour bready malts, grain, wheat, rice. Again, not very enjoyable, though not the worst tasting beer I've had.

m - Light to medium body and moderate to high carbonation evident. A little too carbonated.

o - Overall not a good beer at all. A step up from Miller Light, but that's not saying much. Would prefer Bud Light to this if I had to pick a light beer, but I'll be switching to whiskey for the night pretty soon.

12oz can.

A very light slightly yellow color with a small white head. Nose is bad, it's got a weird of smell with some adjunct an alcohol aromas.

Taste is very plain, bland and boring. It isn't as bad as many but it's not good. There's a sharp light carbonation with a watery mouthfeel and a bad after taste.

12 oz bottle poured into a cup.

Appearance - Pale copper body. Pancake batter white head with creamy lace. Good retention.

Smell - Grainy with light malt.

Taste - Sharp metallic twang. Dry. Otherwise very light on the flavor. Really none to speak of. Slightly corny at best.

Mouthfeel - Light, watery body with a bit of creaminess in the head while it lasts.

Overall Drinkability - Like having sex in a boat. You know the rest.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass, part of the continuing series of mainstream ticks from my parent's house.

Pours a clear golden color with apparent carbonation, the head is a finger and goes away as fast as it comes. Aroma-wise? Not terrible. Water is predominant, but there's some light, sharp hoppiness and some bready malts. The taste? It starts out not too bad, it's fairly flavor deficient but has some nice subtle hop zings over some bready malt, but the finish comes in with a terrible metallic taste that basically ruins the whole thing. As it warms and my pallet becomes adjusted, this just tastes more and more like mineral water.

The mouthfeel is nice, it's well-carbonated and prickly on the mouthfeel. The drinkability isn't great for a light beer, it tastes like it should be a bit heavier in ABV. Overall, this really isn't a great beer. It's servicable, but just barely. If it was the only thing available, I'd drink it and not complain too much. But picking this over the Yuengling and Stella in my parent's fridge was a mistake. Absolutely need a light beer? This is better than many, but seriously? Sam Adams Light or bust. It's bizarre to think that this might be better than most people's experience with this beer, because I took this bottle straight out of an unopened 12 pack.

Sometimes you just have to review less wonderful beer.

Amstel light pours gold (pale) with a rapidly vanishing head and carbonation abound. The aroma unfortunately smells of soaking cabbage and straw, pungent in a bad way.

The flavor is slightly stronger than Perrier, but literally it tastes mostly like water. There aren't any flavor notes to speak of other than mild wheat and...tap water. The beer is like mineral water with slightly more alcohol.

Overall what's the point? Well...it is a light beer but giving it a modicum of a flavor profile might make this moderately worthwhile.

I enjoy the Damm Good Beer commercials but thats about all. I'm sure that Amsterdam isn't that proud of this beer. Anyway this was probably one of the first imported beers I ever had and honestly it wasn't anything to really brag about. This beer pours out as a pale yellow with a little head on top. The aroma is basically just a malt based brew. Not much to pick out really. The taste is the same as the aromas. Not a whole lot going on here. It's drinkable but that's all.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
Calories 95, Carbs 5 g, Protein 1 g, Fat 0 g, 0091528J0103.

A - The crystal clear beer shows off steady carbonation streaming through the lightly golden pale straw yellow beer stemming from the etching in the glass. Low head retention to the cloud-white pile. Little fingers of lace are left.

S - Skunky, but not Heineken skunky, Amstel lets off notes of dry straw and dirt with a light mineral finish. Pretty faint though. There's not much here.

T - Subtle notes of dirty straw underline a harsh mineral flavor with a complimentary metallic flake addition. Light grassy finish. Ugh.

M - Highly carbonated and thin feeling with an ultra-light body and dry finish. Hard mineral texture in the mouth.

O - Of the light beers I sampled this evening, this is the only one that's actually pretty offensive on some level. The taste is just bad despite it minimal but that's actually there. I don't see much sense in consuming this beer. Ever.

When at a wedding, most times your beer options are limited...once the Heinekens ran out, had to switch to Amstel Light.

A: Pours a bright golden color with some heightened amber hues on the outside. Provides a small white foam head that dissipates to nothing.

S: Some oh so small amounts of bread, but mostly corn and some sort of metallic scent.

T: Similar to the smell but there seemed to be a little more bready malt character. The taste remains constant throughout, slightly malty and thin.

M: A light bodied lager that is a watery. Not much happening on the palate.

O: Not a beer I would purchase or necessarily reach for but it did the job over the other available options that night. Could still do worse than an Amstel Light.
