On-tap at C'est What.
Pours a hazy golden amber with a light cream head. Nose was abundant with blackberries, fruit, pale wheat aroma. Taste was exactly as the name would describe: fruity, nice crisp blackberry flavour and a good balance of pale malts buried underneath, light wheat. Medium to light mouthfeel, good body to it. Overall it was a nice summer beer, not overdone or lacking anywhere. ABV was 5% or so, nice offering from Grand River.

More berry aromas and flavours than I thought possible in a beer.
Although the colouring is appropriate for the style, it's a horrific hazy pink. (Much more pleasant to look at if mixed 70:30 with a silky stout for a "black cobbler" - thank-you Gambrinus for the idea).
Hint of wheat on the nose, but the blackberry overwhelms all other aromas. The taste is fruity and refreshing, with a clean wheat finish. Almost overpoweringly fruity when drunk by itself, but again pairs well with the choclate malts of a stout.
An excellent choice for the occasional unusual summer pint!

on tap at the kiwi - cloudy light amber wheat colour - one finger head - with little lacing - S - lots of blackberries and wheat malt - T - much the same with the grand river hard water well masked - found the berries a little more pronounced on tap versus in a bottle which was nice - smooth drinking with decent carbonation and light to medium bodied lightly bitter in the finish - o - very nice fruit beer

I have to say this was a pleasent suprise. I really enjoyed the blackberry fruit taste it had upfront...and I see on this site that this isn't listed as a witbier. Maybe its a blend of both. I'm not to big on witbiers, but the tangy blackberry taste was very nice. The wheat notes weren't overpowering like in other witbiers. I wouldn't have had a problem drinking more of these in a session had I been staying longer. Nice beer.

On tap at the UW Grad House. This is a re-working of last year's summer seasonal, their Bumbleberry Wheat Ale.
Poured into a branded Grand River pint glass. A hazy, murky dark golden brew, leaves behind a sturdy sticky head and nice lacing patterns. The unfiltered dark-hefe look was most welcome. A natural, unassuming looking brew.
Nose is nice wheat malt, blackberry, sugar and a touch of candied fruit, with that typical hard water metallic twang in all Grand Rivers brews.
Rich wheat malt, nice fruit flavor, although I wouldn't have necessarily called it blackberry. In fact, a little more blackberry tartness would have really amped things up, because as it stands it's a bit sweet. That being said, I'm still really digging this brew. Unlike a lot of fruit flavored wheat ales, Grand River has gone for the unfiltered wheat base, which really gives this brew character and depth.
Medium bodied, slight sediment feel, impressive light carbonation. Pleasure to drink.
An improvement over last years brew, sweet and summery, with the wheat ale base I feel is the reason for this. The sweetness limits my ability to consume more than one or two in a sitting - the tartness factor certainly could be upped. Still, a great seasonal!
