Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Bottled 6/17/13.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, char, and alcohol aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness and chile heat on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the chile peppers used in this one don't really add anything other than a lingering heat on the palate.

Pours pitch black with no head at all.

The smell is sweet malts, dark fruits like plums and raisins.

The taste is chocolate, dark fruits, and quite a lot of alcohol.

The mouthfeel is actually quite light, but has enough body to keep it good. There is almost no carbonation and there is an alcohol burn at the back of the throat.

This beer is definitely a sipper, the alcohol is very apparent but has enough complexity to make it worth drinking.
