A 330ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Purchased a while back from the Brewdog webshop. This is the second of this series that I've sampled - my initial impression is that the yeast strain used in this one is a bit more distinct.

A: Poured into a cervoise. Bottle conditioned. A rich, hazy orange-amber hue with fine floating sediment and light carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of grain, mild caramel, apple, subtle raisins, banana, faint coriander, spice, earthiness and stewed leaves. A touch of booze in the background. Not intense enough to be a genuine Belgian trappist, but the yeast character certainly comes across. Decent enough.

T: Tastes of fruity Belgian yeast with a lingering dry finish. Notes of grainy malt, mild caramel, a hint of coriander, dry spice, clove, banana, faint raisins, earthiness and stewed leaves. Well-attenuated, followed by a subdued, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of harsh stewed leaves/husks, spice, fruity yeast esters and faint caramel malt.

O: A decent brew that does a reasonable job of showcasing Belgian yeast. The typical characteristics are certainly evident (moreso than the American ale). Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are quite yeasty with hints of spice, fruitiness, grain and stewed leaves. A degree of harshness in the background. Body is OK. From a yeast perspective, this is a relatively colourful beer. Lacks the refinement of real Belgian trappists but goes down without complaint.

330ml bottle as part of the Unleash the Yeast 4-pack (£9.50 for all 4):
Orange amber and clear with a half-centimetre tall, foamy white head that settles as a fine lacing on top.

Slightly trappist smelling with some yeast and a various fruits that includes some apples, pear and even a touch of banana. There is some citrus notes and a little spice too that rounds things off.

Pear and apple although the banana doesn't appear at this stage. There is some spice with a little sweetness and some orange flavours. It does seem like a Belgian pale ale in places with some of the yeast coming through as well and again some spices and a touch of hops finish things here.

Spicy with average carbonation and a very dry, quite rough palate and some sweetness dotted throughout. The body is a light medium one and there is a slight tang to the beer too.

Strange in that is was a fairly average to poor beer whilst still remaining drinkable but you can definitely tell the effect the yeast had on the beer more than you could with the previous two in the series that I've tried so far.

Amber color with one finger head with low to medium retention.
Light aroma of malt sweetness, honey and cinnamon.
Sweet malty flavor with strong notes of honey, cinnamon and again Belgian yeast. Hints of spices and herbs.
Light to medium body with low carbonation.
Interesting that you can identify the Belgian yeast being the top contributor for how this beer behaves. And that any sugar or spices that are normally added likely just enhances it.
