On-tap; 1/3rd of a pint in Brewdog Glasgow (£3):
Copper amber colour with a thin lacing on top for a head that was a beige colour & wasn't too bad & left some nice lacing too.

Really sweet beer with a lot of malts on the nose and some strong alcohol, although thankfully at least some of this was hidden. There was a good caramel aroma with strong, ripe fruits & lots of depth.

Sweet malts & some alcohol initially, with a little spice, some darker fruits & a touch of spice. I could also detect some caramel & prunes backed with some sugar & a little pepper. The taste was rounded off with some sweet fruits.

Smooth & very strong with a warming alcohol taste that came on top of a full, sweet body & fairly low carbonation.

Quite an enjoyable beer and definitely a strong one that had to be sipped at. There was a lot of depth in the beer with a good combination of big alcohol flavours, sweet fruits & caramel malts all blending well.

Pours amber/copper, thin lacing. Looks flat.
Smells of sweet malts, caramel, vanilla, flowers.
Really sweet malts, with honey and vanilla. Nice citrus (oranges, tangerines and limes), somewhat tart cherries, juicy plums, berries, so generally lots of ripe dark fruit. Dark grapes also, red wine-ish. Big green hops, but not as bitter as expected from a BrewDog.
Alcohol creates a nice sherry feel, bit of cognac too. Not too flat, but with a mild fizz.
A good barleywine, good malts and nice extra fruity hops.

WOW. That was my first word upon sipping this beast. To call this beer intense is an understatement. It appears a hazy amber and smells of burnt orange candy. The flavour is powerful, almost too much. A good thing really, because at 12% this isn't a beer you should knock back quickly. It's malty, with a rich sweetness. Definitely boozy with tons of burnt fruit and candy rounded off with a hint of resin. Slightly spicy, maybe some other flavours I just can't put my finger on.

Overall I found this beer too intense really. It's a lively complex brew but it's also such a strong flavour that it becomes too much by the time you reach the bottom. Given how much I paid for it it's a shame I didn't enjoy it more, and honestly I probably won't buy it again. However, if you're more accustomed to intense barley wines than I am you'll probably appreciate it.
