08/26/09- Purchased at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA.
Presentation- Not sure what size bottle this was....maybe an even 20oz? Does have a best by date on the back label. Poured into a standard pint glass.
Appearance- Dirty yellow-orange colored pour. The slightest of head (less than 1/4 inch for sure). Leaves some ultra light watery lace behind.
Smell- A touch or cardboard, some sweetend tropical fruit notes and some toasted caramel malts.
Taste- Thankfully the cardboard is gone. Pretty heavy on the tropical fruit flavored hops...a bit overly sweet. A light grainy toasted malt flavor. Gets better as you work through the beer.
Mouthfeel- Very lightly carbonated...not really cask-like, I think just bad bottle conditioning..just enough to make it decent.
Drinkability- Was hoping for better...glad I paid only $5.99 for this bottle than the regualr almost $10 that I see it for everywhere else. Hopefully their DIPA is better.

This is almost a session IPA, not boozy not overwhelming hops. A well designed beer. I say almost because its right on the cusp with an abv in the 5-6% range. Its very drinkable. The price was good for a bomber. I would prefer to get this in a six pack, but I have only seen the big boys around here. I love hoppy beers and this one has a good amount of hop presence there, however, its also not a Stone IPA either.
Color: Mild bronze, a decent amount of head that remained throughout.
Smell: Balance of malt and hops, not an intense hop aroma, but a good amount of floral hops.
Taste: Balanced. this could be my go to standard IPA if it were more readily available around here and in six packs. I am not saying they don't put this in six packs, but they are not found around here.
Overall: A pleasant experience, you could drink a few 12 oz beers or a couple of bombers and not be bombed. It has a nice IPA flavor, it is what a regular IPA should taste like.
