12 oz. bottle poured into Dogfish Head signature glass (August 18, 2010). The label is printed with freshness dates: "batch -462, best before 18/12/10". So that means best before December 18th, 2010, I prefer bottled on dates, but this will do.
Eyes: Pours a mildly hazy golden amber, with fluffy white head. Looks a lot like a what beer. Lacing is thick and spidery.
Nose: Surprisingly muted sweetness on the nose. A spicy, piney character strokes the nose, but the malty character hints also.
Tongue: Crisp caramel sweetness up front, and then the bitterness lingers and lingers. It has a very soft and pleasant middle zone, but it doesn't last long.
Mouth: Good body, though mouthfeel is a bit thick.
Libation: I like this IPA, but I can't say it knocks my socks off. Every high point seems to be balanced by a negative trait. A surprisingly complex IPA, that might just be to complex to make a statement in any one area.
