Notes/Commercial Description:
It’s just a helluva shock. Something that gets the adrenalin pumping like a 400 volt shot in a copper bathtub has to be good for the soul. Join the hardcore elite, screw down the throttle and ride. Ride until your lungs bleed and your arms numb. Gun the fucker. Don’t pull back, or slow down until the crazy music starts. Then sit, stunned, wall-eyed, open mouthed, in the realization this mother will drill you with Panzer-like efficiency. And you’ll beg for more.

Beer is a fairly attracting hazy amber. Very little head. Not much aroma. Faint hops and malt. Taste is kinda nondescript, but has a bitter malt and hops finish. It's not that hoppy considering that this beer calls itself an IPA. Mouthfeel is a little heavy. The alcohol is quite warming. Drinkability is so-so. This is a strong, heavy beer. Wouldn't want to have more than one.

As with many Brewdog beers, it's a little weird and unconventional. It's almost a cross between Fin du Monde and some sort of double IPA---perhaps Dogfish Head's 90 minute. This certainly isn't a typical IPA. All in all, not bad, but not quite good, either. An interesting occasional change of pace, but not something I'd want again and again.

A great beer. Poured into a pint glass. Had a copperish hue and was expected a golden hue instead. But it was a good smell good taste and over all mouth feeling was quit o refreshing not an overall bad beer. Love the taste of the Maris Otter Hops in the beer. Kudos

Ive been getting stuck into a few Brewdog beers lately (5am Saint, Punk IPA, dead pony club) and have found them to be a bit of a mixed bag. Having heard this beer's reputation, I left it to last. The bottle best before date is August 2014.

A - brown/ruby red, pours a minimal head that lingers as a frothy lacing. Looks inviting.

S - Floral odours, with a faint basil and citrus (orange) smell. Actually smells pretty nice, like an air freshener.

T - Hoppy bitterness at the start, with the malt kicking in pretty quick. The malt flavours combine with slightly alcoholic taste that lingers for a looong time. The alcohol tinge is fairly mild considering the ABV, and rather warming.

M - Slight carbonation, medium body, slightly dry.

O - Great IPA, it has shown me that good IPAs can be made outside of the new world. The alcohol taste, while mild relative to the ABV, would prevent me from drinking this on a regular basis however. Certainly worth a go.

I found this treasure in the $1 bargain bin at one of our local liquor stores!

It says it is "best before 01-02-14" but in April 2014, it is still outstanding.

Rich alcoholic hop-laden aroma.

Pours a bright hazy orange with a lingering light tan head.

Flavor is rich and balanced. Layers and layers of hops (almost oily with them) and malt. Some coppery notes (which I adore), some chewy wheat bread. A little bit of spices. The aftertaste starts sweet but then ends on a hoppy bitter note. Absolutely beautiful. Sunset in a glass.

Nice full thick mouthfeel. Very full with some almost oily elements (I mean this in a good way) but with a little bit of faint carbonation prickle. Almost like velvet.

An extremely good beer. The best I've had in awhile. Worth buying even if it isn't in the bargain bin. I almost wonder if the cheesy "HARDCORE" name and label design scares people off. This is a very tasty, thoughtful brew.

22 oz bomber with a best by date of 7/9/14 poured into pint glass.

A: Thick, murky orange/amber brew generates sizable, lasting toffee colored head. Retention is decent. Looks pretty good.

S: Really strong fruit rind smell, alcohol, caramel, pine, and distinct marijuana odors. Good on the nose, too.

T: Strong orange and herbal notes throughout. Not as bitter as the supposed 150 IBUs would lead you to believe. Really strong malt base. Alcohol presence is strong, but not overpowering. Finishes citrusy and a bit bitter. There are a lot of strong flavors going on here.

M: Surprisingly, this is pretty easy to drink. Medium body, low carbonation, pretty smooth overall. Alcohol presence is noticeable, but not overpowering.

O: Pretty good DIPA, as you'd probably expect from BrewDog. It's hard hitting all around, but nothing is really too exceptional. This one easily could have gone overboard with the malts, but thankfully it never gets cloying.

B+/A-...would definitely try again.
