batch 198 29/10/10, poured into maudite snifter.
A - apple vinegar orange with a mostly clear body. the head is a white colour, reaches about a one finger maximum height and then falls to nothing. good amount of lacing, but the ultimate lack of foam and the lack of retention bring down the rating.
S - an incredibly potent nose of lemon grass and tangerine rind. the lemon grass mixes with the big malt back bone to make an intersting smell, that is in constant conflict with itself. the malts fight to have this caramel sweetness come out, while the hops have their floral citric, lemony bounty come out on top. the nose can offer this odd cat piss/litterbox kind of ammonia smell at times, quite weird. something's definitely missing with the taste.
T - a solid good taste, not too bitter not too malty. the hops are extremely fruity, more so than I can really remember in this style. the initial taste is a light melon flavour, with some apricots; then the bitterness of the hops begins to set in, offering a brutal herbal bitterness that is a turn off for some, a little while after this is slight malt presence. the finish has the malts increase in strength, while the alcohol mixes with some of the more bitter hops to make a dry bitter burn. the aftertaste is bitter, moreso than malty. yeah its just kind of bitter.
MF&D - the feel is lacking, body is too light, feels almost watery. carbonation is also lacking. the drinkability is alright, not something to write home about.

Serving: 355 mL bottle poured into an IPA glass (batch 081, best before 25/03/15)
Appearance: Bright, slightly hazy orange copper. Frothy, lasting head with moderate lacing.
Smell: Pine needles and candied orange. Clean and welcoming.
Taste: Pine and citrus rind against toffee sweetness. Evenly bitter throughout, but not overly so. Only hints of its 9.2%.
Moutfeel: Smooth, almost oily; medium body with low carbonation.
Overall: Full in aroma and taste, while still nicely balanced and restrained.
