Zeitgeist label is very different today. It reads Organic Black Lager on the side and sure looks better.
Poured to an Ora et Labora taster.
A: Body is dark with a brownish head. Retention is medium to low and lacing is non-existent.
S: The aroma exactly midway between a Porter and Euro Dark Lager, having just slight hints of sweet coffee and malt roasting and ends right there. It's not a bad thing as it is a very simple and straightforward lager.
T: Taste starts off with a very big sweetness incoming from notes of coffee that were held together by the light malt roasting, providing a clean flavour of sweet coffee and cereals.
M: Body is medium. Carbonation is spot on. Alcohol is unnoticed. Sweetness is mild. Bitterness is non-existent.
O: I wish all Euro Dark Lagers were like this. Not sure if this is my first Schwarzbier but I see myself enjoying it in big quantities.

330ml can poured into a pint glass.
Very deep mahogany brown to almost black in color, it tops with a very thick creamy tan head that retains itself with good retention before gradually subsiding to a long-lasting foamy layer on the surface and leaving some lacing on the glass-side.
Lots of malt in both the aroma and flavor, I get roasted at first, then coffee, chocolate, caramel, dark bread, dark cocoa, burnt biscuit, smoked but not in meaty way, dough, and sweet toffee. Hop is also there bringing some crisp of fruity and citrus zest as well as some grassiness. There is also some bitterness that is mostly from dark and roasted malt while partially from hop.
Rather light body with smooth mouthfeel from its moderately crisp carbonation, the feeling is just right to carry all the things well with a very dry finish.
Light and very easy to drink dark Lager, it has good variety of character being led by dark malt and supported by fruity and citrusy hop.

The colour is black with a brown edge (90 EBC). The three finger head is brown and compact. Some lacing occurs.
The smell is smooth creamy and semi-sweet. Roasted, almost burned malts. Hints of clean bitterness and red berries.
The taste is light and dry with lits of smooth heavily roasted malts, hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Some red berries and crispy medium bitterness. Light to medium body. Smooth clean bitter aftertaste with light roasted with some dark chocolate. The finish is mostly bitter.
The carbonation is medium strong, the many mid-sized bubbles are fresh and long-lived.
A gentle update of the schwarzbier style. Very clean.
