This bottle has a best before date of 18/06/10. This is actually my first brew dog beer. Has a dark coppery appearance and a great malty smell. no long lasting head as described in other reviews. Its malty upfront and bitter in the end but the two don't get confused. Carbonation is lacking and it is a little syrupy which is not to my liking but otherwise a great beer.

Cloudy golden orange colour with a smooth, off-white head. Good head retention and lacing.

Very light hop aroma. Some acetaldehyde. Lightly grainy. Not good.

Slightly grainy malt. Crisp, clear bitterness. Light tropical hop character. Disappointing and really quite poor for a Pale Ale yet alone an IPA.

Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation. Fine.

Not a good IPA. I was really looking forward to this but the lack of punchy hop character really lets it down.

IPA single hopped with Nelson Sauvin (NZ) 7.1% ABV on tap in Edinburgh brewpub.
A- caramel nut colour, good clarity, really solid lacing and film, strong carbonation.

S- aged lemon, leafy, tropical mangoes, some caramel roasty malt, great balance.

T- hoppy, fruity coffee, tropical pineapple sweetness, aftertaste is dry, slightly herbal, pine note, nice complexity.

M- nice dry finish, moderate soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel but a decent balance, oily hopiness, really drinkable.

Overall, a bit hop heavy but a really nice showcasing IPA, could be more balanced but really good. Nice delicious flavour, with enough malt to hold it together.

Thick head, hazy, orange hued copper.

The aroma is like a yeasty sourdough starter with fruity and earthy hops.

Sweet, fruity, earthy. Brown sugar, apples, honey, grapefruit and grass. Sweet biscuit toward the end with a bitter hop aftertaste. Lighter than one would expect but the mouthfeel goes well with the mix of flavors. It's a tasty beer and interesting for an IPA.

Testing this beer well chilled, poured from a bottle into a shaker glass.

A: A slight turbid, dark yellow beer, creating a pretty thick and foamy head when poured into the glass. When twirling the glass a lot of small bubbles appears beneath the foamy head telling you there should be plenty of carbonation going on in here.

S: A very hoppy smell appears at first, then turning into a little sweeter malty tones after a while.

T: The taste differs somewhat from the smell. The fruity bitter tones found in the smell can't be found tasting it, it's more of a after-bitter taste. I did expect a more balanced bitterness from the beginning to the end.

M: The long lasting bitterness is real nice. I did though expect a more bubbly&sizzling feeling from the appearance of this beer.

O: A powerful IPA loaded with nice bitterness. The downsides i find is that it is not that well balanced as i did expect, neither the bubbly&sizzling mouthfeel i get from the appearance of it.

A clear amber brew, an off-white head leaving good lacing, some curtains.

The smell is fruity, red apples, peaches, grass.

Starting sweet, sugar coated bread, dried apples and peaches, a grassy bitterness.

Medium carbonation, foamy bubbles, a long dry finish.

Very sweet and fruity, and bitter in a good balance.

A: Pours clear copper with a large off-white thick and creamy head that settles into kick-ass lacings.

S: Caramell malt, only somewhat sweet together with lots of floral hops, more American than English actually. Citric and a bit piney. Grassy.

T: the caramell malt is a bit sweet, the hops are dominated by the American-style citric and piney vibe. There is a healthy dose of bitter hops as well. Honey and grass in the back.

M: The aftertaste is problably way better than the taste, ling bittermand balanced with sweetness. Body is medium while carbonation is medium but smooth.

O: Very nice IPA, but this is American, not English. The ratings would be higher if I was rewieving an American IPA.

The colour is deep amber (25 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger off-white head is airy and uneven. Some lacing occurs.

The smell is strong. Alcohol, honey, sweet candy, harsh hoppy notes. Not much bitterness. Flowers, blackcurrant bushes and hints of cat litter.

The taste is first bitter. However, the bitterness fades quickly, leaving room for sweet flowery notes with hints of white currant, tobacco, unripe raspberries and old-fashioned butterscotch. Medium body. The aftertaste got some alcohol, toffee, hints of coffee candy and dry flowery notes. Some harsh hops and hints of lecture. Tobacco and pelargonium leaves in the finish.

The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles smooth and long-lasting.

A quite nice IPA, however I think it is more American/New World than English. I had a problem with the harsh dry notes that probably emerges from the dry hopping.
