American Double / Imperial Stout |  18.20% ABV

Notes/Commercial Description:
The irony of existentialism, the parody of being and the inherent contradictions of post-modernism, all so delicately conveyed by the blocky, pixelated arcade action have all been painstakingly recreated in this bottles contents. This imperial stout is brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries. After fermentation we then dry-hop this killer stout with a bucketload of our favourite hops before carefully ageing the beer on French toasted oak chips. It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times.

I don't want to imply by some of the things I'm about to say that this beer is bad, but it is certainly not good. The smell was strongly of nail polish remover. The taste was intensely sweet, with a bit of a fruity, appley, taste. However, there was still an overpowering flavour of nail polish remover present. It wasn't something that could really be excused or explained. There must have been some acetone in there somewhere and it really ruined the whole beer.

This really isn't my usual type of beer. BUT here goes. Pours dark and has a slight purplish tint.

Thin head with a tan tint that sticks around after a few sips.

After the first sip, I was tempted to pour it. It was sour and confusing. Honestly, it reminds me of a thinner blackberry brandy. It packs a wallop that I haven't had before though and it brings me to a limit I haven't reached nor had.

If I ever happen to come across it again in my travels, I will more than likely pick it up.

Bottle shared at GRG1313’s tasting.

Best before 12/14/19.

Pours a clear super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, maple, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and maple flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with some solid aromas and tasty flavors.
