From a 12oz bottle to pilsener glass. Pours a dark but translucent and relatively clear amber. Two fingers worth of a nice billowy head that leaves some great lacing.
Smell is bitter and hoppy with a less-pronounced mild maltiness. The dry-hopping emphasized on the label is no joke!
Overall is this is a mild amber. Malts and light hops on the front of the tongue, strong hop-bitterness as you swallow. That back-end hop flavor grows as you move through the glass.
The mouthfeel is full-bodied, and there is a crispness on the tongue. Substantial enough for a cold fall night, but would also fit with some freshly grilled meats and veggies on a summer afternoon.
Overall, I'm recalling something like Troeg's HopBack Amber as a comparable, maybe slightly more complex brew. I enjoyed this beer, but given that it will generally be a bit pricier (as an import), I don't think it justifies the price. Comparable domestic ambers will do just as good, if not better.
