Fresh bottles just arrived in Indianapolis the other day. This beer pours a light bodied dark copper in color with a one finger soapy, off white head. The nose is very fresh and hoppy but I get a lot of onions and garlic to pair with some slight sweet malt. Uh, Summit hops perhaps? The flavors are light and hoppy with a moderate amount of spice. The spice is a nice feature and there is some sweet caramel malt. The onion is there again but it's almost candied. It's definitely toned down, which is a good thing but it's still not preferred. It drinks light and sticky, definitely showing off residual sugars. Overall this beer is pretty average. I don't know why, but almost all of BrewDog's hoppy beers have been a miss for me.

12 oz. bottle; no freshness dating apparent. Pours a hazy, dark amber color with a two-finger off-white head. Very goo retention and a head that settles into a creamy cap leaving thick lacing on the glass.

The aroma is very "east coast" DIPA with a nearly equal combination of fruity hops and caramel malt. The hop aromas lean toward a citrus and slightly pine resin presentation while the malt is not overly sweet.

The flavor is very similar to the aroma, but the malt notes come through stronger. The hops are not necessarily muted, but for those used to very hop-forward DIPAs, this one is definitely more balanced.

The texture in the mouthfeel is very thick for an IPA. Actually, the balance in this brew makes it very drinkable, save the high abv. Decent brew but nothing special for a collaboration.

A - Murky golden-copper, 1 finger bubbly off white head, decent lacing.

S - Fragrant hops, mango, slight funk, candi sugar.

T - Bitter/fruity/pungent hops intertwine with apple at the start of the sip, leading into notes of brown sugar, whisky, grass, & slight olive, finishing with yeasty, breadiness that is slightly dry.

M - Full bodied, moderate carbonation.

O - Very complex, but there is a certain taste that is off putting, that I noticed in the Mikkeller All Others Pale, strange.

A - A cloudy amber with a fine head that leaves some but not much lacing. A creamy white lace clings to the side of the glass upon settling.

S - Complex. Sweet malt comes up with alcohol and resinous hops. Some fruitiness is present with citrus and figs coming to mind. The fragrance is dense and comes in waves. Very unconventional and appealing nose.

T - Large malt and aggressive hops up front followed by a strong alcohol bite that gives way to an almost gin-like herbal character. The alcohol gives way to bitterness and subtle basil and malt. Somewhat fruity and sweet but really has an herbal character and quality all of its own. Seems to possibly be oaked, but I'm not really sure.

M - Explosive carbonation and a very clean mouthfeel fro the style.

O - A good beer to try! A bit pricey but its certainly unique and worth giving a whirl.

From notes on 12/07/11:
No freshness date; Poured in a pint glass.

A - One inch creamy, very light yellowish-tan head that diminishes pretty quickly; Caramel colored with a very thick and cloudy appearance; Moderate lacing

S - Pretty unique smell here; Wet citrus hops, sweet caramel, burnt sugar, and slightly earthy notes as well

T - Also unique, but different from the nose; More earthy hops here, with just a bit of pine and tropical fruit; Caramel malt backbone with a slightly warm, peppery, mango-like aftertaste; No taste of alcohol detected at all; Decent amount of bitterness throughout the taste and into the fairly clean finish

M - Very nice carbonation felt on the tongue; Slightly above medium bodied; Slick, oily coat forms in the mouth; Pretty dry finish

O - This beer tastes and smells unlike any other beer I have had, and the complexity made it challenging to pick apart the aromas and flavors. There was a really good balance of hops, bitterness, malts, and fruity sweetness that I really enjoyed. This DIPA was pretty drinkable as well, and one I hope to find and try again in the future.

blood orange in color with tons of haze. Nice amount of off-white head and some lacing.

Loads of citrus in the nose. Grapefruit and orange really come out along with a floral note.

Big mouthfeel and this is gotta be a sipper. Almost leans into the barley wine category with the cloyingly sweetness and residual sugars. Lighter caramel malts keep this fruity and add to the Amarillo notes, Columbus and probably Simcoe piney bits from the hops. Hop driven for sure with just enough malt to keep you interested.

This was a tasty collaboration but a bit pricey for another Double IPA. I let this sit around for 6 months in the fridge so a fresh version would review differently.
