Notes/Commercial Description:
The truth. You don’t want to hear the truth. The truth’s no longer out there bubba. Just chicken ass lies. Become a Dogma Disciple. Believe in the birds and the bees. Act crazy, be heavily armed at all times and scream in German. Dogma is an indulgent, decadent and encapsulating scotch ale brewed with 10 different types of malt all blended together with Scottish heather honey. Soak up the sweet nectar like a jackrabbit on heat. This beer is not cool. You may think it is, but that is just a beautiful lie fabricated by clowns and gypsies.

When the dry earthiness and smoky taste of scotch whisky causing much abrasion upon the palate, those otherwise beautifully masculine ale keeps the vernacular in mind while softening those peated flavors and textures with honey, malt, spice and a wee-heavy attitude.

Hazy and somewhat muddled in appearance, its tawny bronze hues thwart a massive arid head that's bursting with aromas of honey, toast, chocolate and booze. Its medium-weight malt buffers the earth and pepper with floral honey, toffee and smoky sweetness.

The ale blossoms across the middle as its floral and caramel gives way to robust toast, coffee, cocoa nib, cola nut and crusted savoriness. Given a slight 'meaty' taste as its fatter middle is given a melanoidin-rich lushness.

Its fast-fleeting exit lightens considerably and casts aside the bulk of sweetness, favoring a drier and spicy finish that's predicated on peppercorn, spruce, toasted husk with vinous and dried stone fruit. Its arid dryness, subtle warmth and stern effervescence enlivens a tepid ash character that's sure to be to the delight of fine cigar aficionados.

Pours brown with a large creamy head.
Nose shows rich dark malt with hefty caramel, treacle, burnt figs, toasty malt and chocolate fudge.
Some roasted malt as a flavours but a lot of sweetness too. Golden syrup, coffee, alcohol, piny hops and liquorice.
Overcarbonated.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with red highlights, virtually opaque in the glass. Thin tan head that dissipates to a ring around the glass, leaving thin lacing. Interesting aroma of brown bread, molasses, caramel, sweet nuts, hints of cola spicing and light cardboard similar to aged stouts. Flavor is a mellow blend of dark toasty malt, molasses, dates, figs, mixed nuts, cocoa and hints of coffee and cola. Really complex. Very nice creamy mouthfeel and medium to heavy body. A fun, complicated ale that has elements of both Scotch ale and porter, but with other interesting and complimentary flavors. There was so much going on here it seems almost all over the map, but still feels well melded and integrated. I'm impressed. The heavy malt and molasses flavors make it more of a sipping beer despite its moderate ABV. I liked this a lot and will snag another one when it rolls around.
