Notes/Commercial Description:
The truth. You don’t want to hear the truth. The truth’s no longer out there bubba. Just chicken ass lies. Become a Dogma Disciple. Believe in the birds and the bees. Act crazy, be heavily armed at all times and scream in German. Dogma is an indulgent, decadent and encapsulating scotch ale brewed with 10 different types of malt all blended together with Scottish heather honey. Soak up the sweet nectar like a jackrabbit on heat. This beer is not cool. You may think it is, but that is just a beautiful lie fabricated by clowns and gypsies.

@ Paddy O'Beers

Very dark brown color with some sparse bubbles around the edge and a thin, web-like covering. Deep malty aromas along with molasses and prune...pretty mild overall though. Flavor is malty and sweet, but not cloying. Sweet bread, berries, some stickiness, bitter chocolate, dark fruit, and cola. Medium bodied, clean, and dry. A nice little Scotch ale.

Pours pure black out of the bottle, there is a tiny off white head.

The smell is caramel and treacle, very sweet.

The taste is very sweet and malty, very sweet with caramel with a lot of yeasty flavour.

The mouthfeel is thick like honey, with medium carbonation.

Overall a very tasty if not overly sweet ale. The mouthfeel is fantastic though. The sweetness does make it difficult to drink though. It's too sweet for me.

Black color, ruby when exposed to light. It made a two fingers of thick caramel head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Aroma of chocolate and caramel, brandy and malty notes. I did not get much honey here.
Delicious sweet flavor, here you can find honey, herbs, roasted malts, licorice, cola, red fruits and some brandy. You can go on and on (sugar cane syrup, mint etc.).
Mild dry and fruity with a distant ginger aftertaste.
Really full body, velvet almost viscous, with very low carbonation, though appropriate. 7.4% ABV is timid given its bold character.
Even though it is complex, it is very drinkable. Excellent scotch ale.

500 ml (I think?) bottle into a tulip glass.

A: Pours a very dark red color. The head is a nice looking two finger mocha shade with a good texture. Rock-solid retention and attractive lacing are also present.

S: There is a lot of chocolate, along side some cola, honey, and a very subtle herbal component. All the sweetness comes across enjoyably.

T: The flavors presented are far more caramel-forward in general than the nose suggested. Despite that, there's a strong suggestion of sweet cola and faint chocolate to start, before it gradually dries out near the finish. The honey qualities come across both dryly and sweetly.

M: At first, it's a very clean, dry brew, but after a while sweetness will accumulate on the front of the palate (the sides and back remain dry, however). Carbonation is low, which fits its somewhat syrupy nature - but the thinner texture doesn't, really.

O: For about 4 oz, this one truly kicks ass in terms of both drinkability and enjoyment factor. But as soon as the sweetness accumulates, it becomes a little less likable for my tastes. Killing an entire bottle would be difficult, but not unbearable; this is one to share with others. Between this and taking heroin, I'd pick drinking this 11 times out of 10.

Viscous violet-chocolate with bronze head of fast-fading froth.
Tar, fish sauce, oak smoke and Polish poppy cake on the nose - heavy.
Acidic black malts, dates, molasses, espresso beans, and sure enough, kola nut, then a spark of orange rind at the end.
Flower and allspice ending rolling waves of cookie spiced sweetness on the linger
Medium to full, well chewy, a bit oily, round and sticky.

Suspicious of this one, given BrewDog's taste for gimmickry and the ingredients. But it's a well-judged and hearty, with a combo of spice, hops, and black malt acid (but no roast) balancing the prodigious sweetness. Maybe not the most faithful to style, but a good winter sipper.

Picked this up at my favorite beer store in Belgium, Dranken Geers. Dark mahogany pour with a touch of ruby when held to the light. Two finger beige head with decent retention and lacing. The nose is spicy, malty, and really complex with hints of nutmeg, molasses, figs, toffee, smoke, honey, and just a touch of coffee and mocha. The honey really comes out in the taste as this comes to temperature. Extremely toasty and malty with hints of cocoa, dark fruit, molasses, brown sugar, coffee, and just a bit of red berries and licorice. The mouthfeel is smooth as silk with a subtle creaminess and tangy bitter finish. Not at all what I had expected as I'm not a big fan of honey. A very unique and tasty interpretation of the style.
