Lose yourself in this voluptuous beast of a beer. A twenty-first century hop overdose. This mother will seduce you, ravish you and you’ll be back gagging for more. Adore it. Lust for it. Fall for it. Libertine Black Ale is a dark hop bomb combining the hop awesomeness of an IPA, the decadent and indulgent malt flavours of a stout with an insatiable drinkability that belies the punch that this beer packs. A Dark Knight amongst pale knaves. Taste the hops, live the dream. Learn to speak beer, love fruit and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, dreamers and warriors… the outlaw elite. Ride toward anarchy and caramel craziness. Let the sharp bitter finish rip you straight to the tits. Swallow hard – this beer bites.

Cask at Brewdog Cardiff. Black with cap of beige head, curtains of lacing. Sweet aroma, citrus, completely unexpected. Taste brings more sweet flavors, milk and light citrus. A finishing bitterness slowly rises at the back. Wonderful stuff....

The appearance had a dark brown more so closer to a black colored body with a half fingered white foamy head that quickly dies leaving barely a filmy lacing coating the glass. The smell has some bitter piney hops up in front and leading to a decent coating of malts, but not overbearing. The taste is bittersweet; and you kinow what, that’s exactly what an American Black Ale should lead to, good job Bew Dog. There’s no aftertaste and there’s a slightly bitter dry finish. The palate feels about a medium but sometimes feels lighter and then sometimes feels heavier, unsure where this is going. Carbonation is not as harsh as expected as some American Black Ales can be. Overall, hey try it and see how it goes for you; for me its absolutely fine, there’s nothing wrong with it.

L: Dark brown color, half finger brown head, messy lacing, nice carbonation.

S: Dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, sweet caramel, some booze.

T: Dark chocolate, raisins, sweet caramel, roasted malt. Slightly malty, bitter on the back end.

F: Nice mouthfeel. Good carbonation pushes flavors into palate.

O: Nice winter beer. I wouldn't recommend during a hot summer day.
