American Double / Imperial Stout |  15.00% ABV

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Imperial Stout matured for twelve months in rum casks, this is all the delicious flavours of Christmas in a bottle. Not only does this limited edition beer taste superb now, but it is bound to age brilliantly and would be a wonderful one for the cellar.

Had to start Christmas off with a beer that had the holiday right in the name! Poured into a wine-tasting glass, which really captured the rum. It slammed me in the face as soon as I bent toward it, which was awesome. The overall body was a touch light for such a high-alcohol beer, but the flavor was boozy, with some vanilla coming out as well. For a stout, it had an interesting deep-reddish hue hidden inside of it that gave it glow. Overall, this isn't your everyday drinking stout, but you wouldn't expect that from BrewDog. Thoroughly enjoyed this one as the pre-dinner snacks rolled out.

Dark brown colour with a small tan head. Poor head retention.

Big alcohol aroma. Rich roast. Vanilla. I get the rum and the stout but I don't think they integrate well and it is pretty underwhelming.

Big stout. Sugar, roast, chocolate, alcohol, more alcohol. Touches of oak and fruit. Vanilla. Not integrated.

Medium-full body with moderately-high carbonation. A bit fizzy.

An unintegrated, boozy stout. Lacking finesse. This is just a booze bomb with the rum not really adding anything.
