The devastatingly bitter finish will drill straight through your taste buds. If you like hops and bitterness then go ahead. But be warned: this beer has more bitterness than a human palate (or nipple) can detect. For freaks, craft beer junkies and stamp collectors only.

The second placed beer in our 2012 Prototype Challenge is a BrewDog staff favourite, and made a brief guest appearance in our bars last summer.

Hazy orange pour, with sediments, little foam that disappears relatively quickly. Citrus smell (strong grapefruit), and pineapple. Huge hop taste, very bitter, grapefruit and hints of peach and pineapple. Salty and quite bitter after-taste.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2014. Acquired from Brewdog's online shop. The label describes it as a West Coast IPA.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. A golden-amber hue with faint chill haze and medium carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing. Aroma of overwhelmingly fruity hops with notes of pine, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, white grape and tropical fruits. Underpinned by subtle caramel malt, faint diacetyl and a hint of booze. Tasty!

Tastes of intense aromatic hops with an extreme bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, white grape, mango, tropical fruits, mild caramel malt, faint earthy yeast and stewed hops. Highly attenuated, with an incredible bitterness upon swallowing. Hits you like a sucker punch! Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with decent carbonation and body. Very astringent - dries the palate thoroughly. Aftertaste of stridently bitter aromatic hops.

Nice one - an imposingly hoppy brew from the folks at Brewdog. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are all about the hops. Plenty of fruity/piny notes and bitterness, while the malt lurks discretely in the background. Body is OK, though could have been a shade more substantial for the style. All in all, a great showcase for the vigorous flavour that hops can deliver. If IPAs are your thing then give this beer a whirl.

A: Very light orange, a tad hazy with sediment, slow rising micro carbonation.
S: Light, sweet and citrusy
T: Really nice. Yes, more like an american IPA, but I feel like there are some European hops in here, giving it a grassy flavor i associate with certain German beers. But still, unique and very tasty.
M: Smooth
O: A very lovely attempt at an AIPA. Not what you'd find on the west coast, but certainly special in it's own positive way.

Tastes like lychee with some notes of pineapple, which is totally wrong. It is very acydic but not in the right way (the lambic way). It makes a bad pairing with a BrewDog burger in the BrewDog bar.

Pours amber with a small head.
Very fruity aroma with passion fruit and peach characters. Also honey and cookie doughy-like malt. Nice.
Aggressive hoppy flavours. Tropical fruit and resinous hops leading to a sharp, bold bitterness. I'd like a bit more malt.
