6cl bottle from Brewdog.com back in 2013 (£4.50 approx.):
Very strong stuff & nothing like a beer in the traditional sense of the word, this one was a boozy spirit with tonnes of alcohol showing throughout & a warming kick to it was well. There was a little variety to the nose, something that I wasn't expecting but the taste was pretty much what I thought it would be like going in with plenty of alcohol & a burning feel to it that dominated throughout. It's one that I'm glad I've managed to try but I can't see me ever giving it a second go, even if I manage to see it again somewhere in the future; dangerous stuff indeed.

A 60ml bottle with no visible BB date - though I suppose a product like this doesn't require one. Purchased ages ago from the Brewdog webshop. An insane take on an eisbock, with a base IPA that was subsequently freeze-fractioned until an ABV of 35% was achieved. I've never tried anything like this before....

A: Poured into a balloon. A deep reddish-brown colour, almost like burnt marmalade. Flat and without head; pretty much how a spirit would look. When swirled in the glass the liquid runs down the sides in legs.

S: Aroma of rich, fruity notes with hints of dried fruit, raisins, brown sugar, caramel, sherry/brandy, oxidation and overwhelming alcohol. No discernible hop character. Breathing in too deeply burns the nostrils. Interesting but intense.

T: Tastes of intense, hot booze along with hints of butterscotch, dried fruit, caramel, brown sugar, sherry/brandy and an oxidised malty character. Somewhat sweet, while a solvent-like character lurks in the background. Very alcoholic and challenging to drink.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and oily on the palate, while the booze numbs/burns the senses. Possesses a slight spicy quality. Aftertaste of dried fruit, caramel, brown sugar and oxidation.

O: Given how unique it is, comparisons with other products are difficult. It seems most akin to a brandy, although without the degree of mellowness that comes with careful aging. Rich and fruity, but also incredibly boozy and hot. Difficult to drink. The received wisdom is that you should try everything once, but I'm not sure this is something I want to repeat. Glad I sampled it but once is enough.

Pours amber, flat, like a darker cognac. That's also the type of glass i'm using, and i'm having it just a bit chilled.
Big hop oils in the smell, very concentrated, with huge peach and apricot, citrus, lots of pine, vanilla. Really sweet too, with honey notes and some caramel. Huge booze vapors creating a plum/apricot/plain brandy feel.
Really curious about it. Yup, straight booze, really rough, like surgical spirit or industrial alcohol. The tasty notes from the smell are barely present, with some fruitiness running around the palate, muddled up by big green concentrated notes (pine resin, spruce oil) that i personally found disturbingly... raw. There's a fishy saltiness present too, interesting. As you get used to the brew (and you have to do it fast, considering the very tiny bottle), there are nice caramel malts settling down, creating a nicer whisky-like taste. Not so bitter in the finish.
The huge herbal notes and the spirit reminded me of strong mouthwash at first, but it gets smoother as you drink it, so one problem down. Oily mouthfeel, totally flat, as advertised. Still you get way tastier hops in the smell than in the taste, alcohol keeps covering them up, so no way to sugar-coat that.
Something else. Can't really say i loved it, but i'm happy i tried it. An interesting experiment, but somehow i can't keep feeling mugged.

rvdoorn brought this one to share. Weird stuff man. Cheers!

From a 6cl screw top bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Flat as a board. Burnt orange in color with no carbonation or head.

SMELL: Notes of butterscotch, caramel and hair spray under a pile of alcohol.

TASTE: Alcohol and hair spray. There's some piney, herbal hops in there if you can get past all the harsh, harsh, offensive alcohol and hair spray. Boozy. You could have told me this was some kind of cleaner.

PALATE: Flat, slick and syrupy with piles of heat on the swallow. Burn lingers.

OVERALL: These things are always weird. I never had the "pleasure" of trying Sink the Bismark, but I can't imagine it's much better (or worse) than this. This is all publicity, as there's no other reason to create such a fine example of an ill-advised mistake.

Huge thanks to Rwalford74 for this.

A - flat amber. Legs.

S - very, very, Brewdog. Heaps of alcohol and hop oils. Vanilla. Massive.

T - less. Lightweight (!) still boozy, but not to compare with smell. Vanilla, prunes, figs.

M - hot and boozy.

O - not in same league as STB or TNP, but still a fun beer, and great to have the experience. And very very difficult to review and score objectively.

Had this twice. Once a whole 6 cl. bottle @ fridge temperature. Once a small sample @ room temperature. Doesn’t make that much of a difference how you drink it but cold is slightly preferable.

A: Pours a dark toffee amber, 100 % flat, pure stillness.

S: Ridiculously harsh herbs and hop-oil, light toffee, ridiculously bitter.

T: Similar to the smell, very, very, very harsh bitter herbs, painful almost, reminds me of Sink the Bismarck, slightly better, followed by hop-oil concentrate, raw pine concentrate, caramel malts, booze is largely covered, warmth is felt in the back.

B: Very oily, needless to say 100 % flat.

It is slightly comparable to & better than Sink the Bismarck. It is harder to drink, pretty brutal in its flavours.

Another ridiculously expensive BrewDog gimmick. For the fans only who are bound to defend it. Those who have always been wanting alcoholic hop oil concentrate.

I am sorry but I have to object to a screw bottle with NO TAMPERPROOFING

right it pours a flat no head dark spirit looking flat thing

Now aroma it hits you whisky and fishing pier

The taste is beer treacle in all senses and instant heartburn it burns to a liquorice like taste that I suppose really isn't there

no carbonation and thick going

This really needs to be experienced to be honest though surely it could live a little more and have a slightly bigger serving
