Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: Kirk on 08-16-2013

This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

An ultra-experimental mish mash of styles. This is an oak aged Imperial Weizenbock . A big, bold mouthfeel backed by some powerful banana and classic weizen notes, balanced by an eclectic yet bizarrely balanced variety of hops from America (Simcoe) the Czech (Saaz) and the UK (Bramling Cross).

The beer is 10.2% ABV and has been aged on toasted French oak chips. As close to bannoffee pie as a beer can taste. Seriously.

This beer was the brainchild of our German Lead Brewer Franz.

Pours a murky reddish brown with no head.

The smell is sweet and malty, with some of the typical weizen smells, cloves and banana.

The taste is very very sweet with the cloves and banana flavors coming through.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

The is a crazy sweet wheat beer, it's drinkable with the weizen features and does hide its abv very we'll. (374 characters)

Pours light ruby, a bit hazy, small white head quick to a thin lace.
Smell of overripe banana, sticky cherry and orange jam, boozy raisin and caramel, toffee, faint honey and licorice, sweet cake spices, faint light chocolate. The warm alcoholic fruit jam aroma reminds a lot of a barleywine.
Candi sugared banana chips are the strongest, start to finish, a nice clear tasty flavor, sweet, but not horrendously. Nice apple mash, apricot and cherry jam around it, plus tons of caramel and toffee, really sticky. Might seem overly sweet, but it's countered nicely, first by spices (licorice, oaky vanilla, clove, citrus peel, faint amaretto, even some pepper), secondly by the French oak, not too obvious in the taste, but with a dry feel, also enhanced a bit by the Czech hops.
Medium body, oily, low carbonation. Warm alcohol, nicely handled. Fortunately the more than mildly bitter finish cuts off most of the sweetness, leaving a nice hoppy/fruity aftertaste, with a touch of wheaty malts and booze.
Again, this felt a lot like a nice barleywine, with the extra weizen notes (spices and banana). Nice, might be too sweet for others, but i liked it. A bit too expensive tho. (1,175 characters)

Pretty but all over the place. Head isn't great. Colour is good. Flavour is a weird combination of overactive ester, American hops, raw oak and sugar. (150 characters)
