Appearance: First off, cool can design. The black parts of the can are actually textured. Anyway, on to the beer. Pitch black in color with a silky tan head. Good lacing.
Aroma: Bittersweet coffee, chocolate, and charred malt. A touch of cream as well.
Taste: Starts with a smooth dark malt and cream mix that is bordered by a light earthy hop character. The hop bitterness goes from light to moderate about halfway through and the finish releases a great creamy/toasty malt flavor onto the palate. Aftertaste of lingering bitterness and dark malt. Quite robust at 6.2% ABV.
Mouthfeel: Hovering around medium in body, maybe a bit above. Above average carbonation does a good job of lightening things up. Good drinkability.
Final Thoughts: Tallgrass delivers another tasty brew with their Zombie Monkie robust porter. Among the common styles, my familiarity with porters is near the bottom of the list but it didn't stop me from fulling enjoying this one. The hop bitterness and sometimes harsh dark malt flavors are restrained without being dull. Would I drink it again? Yes.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.
The brew is a solid coffee black with a mocha colored head that's slow to recede. Nice foamy lines of lacing stick around.
The aroma is thick in roasted malts, roasted coffee, and a sweet milk chocolate in the end. All the dark arts are at work.
The taste is much like the aroma, only better! The smooth, creamy milk chocolate notes finish this off well.
The mouthfeel is nice and creamy, very impressive.
Overall, one of Tallgrass Brewing's finest moments.

Serving glass: Poured from kickass can into imperial Pint. Tallgrass is really making some great looking cans and ridiculous stories to go with them. I love it.
Appearance: Extremely dark brown that appears black. Massive, creamy, light brown head that leaves some decent lacing behind.
Smell: Chocolate, roasted notes, light fruitiness, and some chalkiness.
Taste: Great roasted taste with chocolate, some coffee and smoke, and light fruity notes. The finish has some Pale Ale characteristics with light citrusy and floral notes. Not bitter at all, but definitely a unique finish for a Porter.
Feel: Medium body that is quite smooth and creamy. Light carbonation. Very nice dry finish.
Overall: Other than a unique finish, there is nothing over the top here; just an extremely well made Robust Porter. Another great new release from Tallgrass. 2013 has really been their year, with this, Wild Plum, and the sublime Ethos IPA.

One of the cooler looking cans complete with tactical grip, that I have seen. Pours dark brown with over two fingers of head that had great retention before settling to a thick cap. Heavy lacing is left down the glass.
Very good malty aroma. Hints of grain, chocolate, roast which is not really porter like, and some citrus hops.
It is a robust porter with a full palate of malt flavor. Mostly chocolate malt with compliments of roasted malt. Hops do not play a big part in the flavor but adds some citrus and bitterness. Has a larger ABV but there is no sign of it in the flavor. Finishes with a roasted bitterness.
Big body and nicely carbonated. A bigger porter.
A very good porter from Tallgrass. Comes with cool packaging and amusing marketing. But the important part is what is in the can, and it is good.
