I recently unearthed two twelve oz cans of this long gone brew. The carbonation went quickly. The vanilla and cinnamon had seen better days but damn it was smooth and actually was a real pleasure to take that trip down memory lane. This was easily the best beer Tallgrass, once the largest brewery in the state of Kansas, ever produced. Best in show quality. Tallgrass is a cautionary tale to anyone thinking about entering the craft brewery scene. Simply took on too much in an environment of heavy competition and strayed from their base consumer to try and please the masses. The masses are not going to appreciate a beer like this. Even after all these years, I sure did. The ratings of this beer are being held down by a couple of factors and that’s a crying shame. Some of these folks got the beer 2-3 years after the brewery went under. A flavor like vanilla is not going to hold up that long.

Canned on 11/10/15. Consumed on 3/19/18.
Would have been nice to see a canning date before purchase. Damn cardboard surrounding the 4 pack.
Still a good brew nonetheless.
Cinnamon is still there although most of the vanilla has seen better days.

I had this one aged about 8 months. We'll see how it holds up.
L: Black with not much head to speak of.
S: Cinnamon, bourbon, dark chocolate.
T&F: I have had this fresh and I think the bourbon is waaay more noticeable after it has been aged. There is still a strong cinnamon flavor and a little bit of vanilla. Finishes smooth with some chocolate notes. Medium body, somewhat light bodied for a stout.
O: Definitely not a sweet aged as it is fresh. I don't remember tasting much bourbon when I had this fresh, but it is very noticeable now in both the nose and the taste. It's not any better or worse being aged a little, but it is different. Depends if you are looking for more bourbon barrel flavors (aged) or vanilla and cinnamon (fresh).

Black cola appearance. Love the cinnamon addition. I don't get much if any bourbon barrel here. I get a touch of toasted coconut, not sure where that's from. Light carbonation. Smooth silky texture

Canned 10/28/15; drank 12/6/15 @ the Yarchives.
Drank straight from the can; no visual cues.
Cinnamon, milk chocolate & root beer notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Cinnamon, milk chocolate & root beer flavors; no booze heat. A sessionable, flavorful stout...I hope they can this every year!

The cinnamon is a nice addition that shows up in the finish, but not getting much bourbon barrel character. Still, enjoyable beer that I woukd have no problem drinking again if given the chance.
