This beer is a Belgian Tripel that lives up to its name. Smooth and carefully crafted like a fine velvet painting, but with an 8.5% ABV this bird has some spurs! The beer pours a golden straw color with brilliant clarity. Topped with a lofty pure white head the beer has a wonderful floral nose, with subtle fruit notes. The taste is clean and crisp, with subtle fruit notes and a touch of candy like sweetness. The beer has a Champagne-like effervescent that provides a crisp offset to its sweet finish. While a pint glass is always nice, Velvet Rooster would also be at home in a tulip glass or Champagne flute.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a hazy medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains very well before slowly relinquishing to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and random bubbly surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thin ring behind.

S- Lots of hay and lemongrass with a bit of barnyard funk. The Belgian yeast in this is less rich and more subdued.

T- The flavor isn't as complex and enticing as the aroma. Fairly average Tripel taste with some moderate wheat malt, slight spice and a noticeable alcohol presence.

M- Also quite average. Slightly sharp from the hops, booze and medium carbonation. The body leans toward the fuller side of things.

O- The aroma of this beer is deceiving as it tricks you into thinking great things lie ahead. In the end, it's just your standard Tripel.

From old, undated notes; poured from the can.

Murky, bright orange-yellow color.

Huge, bright white head; spotty lacing.

Faint hop smell under a bed of bread. Not much nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Mild bread flavor; hint of yeast.

This is not an offensive brew, but pretty plain for a tripel. I shan't have another.

Decent tripel. Poured from can to tulip glass. Nice, effervescent carbonation and a few fingers of fluffy white foam. Aromas of clove and pear, white grape and apple. Flavors are spice, banana, green apple. Prickly feel.

This beer pours a pale gold with an average head. The aroma is spice dominant, with hints of melon, banana, passion fruit, and a funky cheese rind. The flavor is mellow with moderate sweetness, clove, nutmeg, salted cantaloupe, honeydew, honey, and a bit of barnyard. The mouthfeel is medium to full with foaming carbonation. Overall this is a decent Tripel, maybe a little subdued, but there is a pleasant funkiness I normally don't find in this style I rather enjoy.

Drink by 2/6/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity and has bubbles racing upwards; fluffy white head that sticks around leaving great thick retention and sticky. The aromas have hints of banana, pear, green apple and white grapes. Some floral notes. Yeasts and malts are there. The flavors follow the nose. More banana, pear, green apples and white grapes. Subtle hints of black pepper. Mild sweetness along with a mild bitterness. The cane sugar is there, but it doesn't come off as that sweet. Yeasts and malts do their thing. It's not syrupy. Finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the fuller side of medium-bodied with fluffy active carbonation. It's smooth, slightly creamy and easy to drink.

This is a solid Tripel. It's more/less what you would expect from an "American example of the style". It's clean, crisp and refreshing. Not bad at all. I like it.

Pours straw yellow and maintains slight bubbles. Herbal, pineapple smell. Taste banana sweet with slightly bitter finish. Perfect amount of carbonation. Nice representation of a tripel.

A great beer! It pour a hazy almost orange color with a white head and some lacing. The smell is floral and fruity with alcohol notes. The flavor is smooth, fruity and sweet on the swallow. After witbiers tripels are a close second in my book.
