Random tall-boy can picked up in Oklahoma City. I'll admit it, the label drew me in. Drink by date of 10/4/14.
Appearance - Nice bright pale orange color with some haze, puffy white head. Wispy cap and thin ring left by the end.
Smell - The smell is rather faint with a little bit of a 'stale' feel to it. Citrus fruits, weed and herbal hops are decent but subdued, crackery/pale/caramel malts almost overtake them. It gets better with warmth however.
Taste - The taste is an improvement and delivers some brighter hop flavor. Oranges, lemon, tropical tones, grassy and earthy hops. Still a good amount of malt flavor here mostly leaning towards crackery and pale with a light sweetness to it as well.
Mouthfeel - Good body, smooth with lowish carbonation, light bitterness that is fine for a pale ale and easy drinking.
Overall - Feels a little subdued, but it took some warmth for this to show its potential. Light and pleasant to drink, good hop flavor, good malt flavor. It's hard to remember nowadays that American pale ales probably should taste like this.
