16 fl oz. can, with best by date 11/15/2013 printed on the bottom. Super stoked to finally be seeing this beer in my area, and hyped to try it out! My first Tallgrass 8-Bit Pale Ale, and my first beer from Tallgrass Brewing Co., with some seriously awesome can art.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours two fingers of fluffy soft white head on top of a nice coppery orange-yellow colored body with a bit of haze to it and some nice strings of bubbles rushing topside. Little to no lacing leftover.

S - Wonderfully refreshing smell of sweet tea leaf like sweetness, dirty earthiness, & a crisp lemongrass hop presence.

T - Taste follows the nose: crisp lemongrass, earthiness, & some sweet tea leaf like malt presence. Medium-light bodied, this is what a pale ale should taste like in my opinion. The galaxy hops are juicy and fruity in the vain of orange & grapefruit. Apparently, I like galaxy hops!

M - Feel is crisp & juicy with some resinous hops lingering to the palate.

Overall, this is some seriously good American pale ale. Nicely flavored, crisp, & refreshing with a modest 5.20% abv, this is a beer I could drink all day and not get tired of. If I am remembering correctly, this beer tastes similar to what the Crazy Mountain Mountain Livin' Pale Ale tasted like, so perhaps that beer is made using galaxy hops as well. Either way, an enjoyable beer that I hope to have lots more of.

Tallgrass 8-Bit Pale Ale ---4/5.

Pours hazy oarage with a fair amount of suspended yeast and chuncks. Good one finger head that has great retention.

This has a good warm malt back backbone to it. A slight hint of citrus and tropical fruits from the galaxy hops but is pretty mellow in comparison to the malt background

Big Malty body that has an earthy quality to it that is pretty nice. Hops are mostly bittering however a little citrus is present at the start. Finishes with a hint of tropical fruit, though very subtle.

Mouthfeel a nice balance of oils from the hops. Not too thin but still drinkable.

Overall this is a nice pale ale that offers a bigger malt presence then most of the pale ale out there today. Extra points for a sweet can.

I'm beginning an escapade back into brews in cans that is becoming the rage with brewing companies recently. Some, despite my optimism with beer, are not what I was hoping for. THIS, on the other hand, was astonishing for being an PA from a can. Smooth, refreshing and an aromatic head with thin lace. Being that I tried this on a whim from a local bar, my doubts about the up and coming "micro-can race" have been subsided for the time being due to this beer. Mad props to this PA and all other brews to come from Tallgrass!

This is an experience. I'm a malthead, so this is high praise from me. Pours to a big frothy white head that stays thick and leaves ample but erratic lacing. Aroma is spicy, fruity hops and toasty Munich malt. Flavor gets better as the beer warms up, with a complex blend of malts and tangy hops playing well together. Mouthfeel is light-medium. I'd say this is one of the best canned APAs you could hope to get your hands on.
