Served in a snifter at Bigby's Pour House.

No matter how sleek the newer ones may look, there'll always be a soft spot in my heart for the old 8-bit games. Regardless, this stuff pours a clear amber-brass topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises grass, orange peel, light flowers, and a twinge of flaky biscuit. The taste brings in more of the same, with brighter veins of grass and orange peel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, a very nice pale ale, nothing earth-shattering, but definitely something I'm happy to have available around here now.

3rd can of the four pack - I drank the first 2 straight from the can & decided to formally review this one. It has a hazy golden/straw color, frothy white head, excellent head retention. Aromas are grass, grapefruit, lemon zest, biscuity grain, fresh, lemongrass. Tastes are toasted grain and bready malt coupled with dank, pungent hops, grapefruit rind, caramel, grass, lemon rind, pine - nice balanced complexity. Body is medium, creamy but resiny, bitterness lingers some. Overall, I really enjoyed this one - out of the can or from a glass it's a solid APA either way you drink it!

16 fl oz. can, with best by date 11/15/2013 printed on the bottom. Super stoked to finally be seeing this beer in my area, and hyped to try it out! My first Tallgrass 8-Bit Pale Ale, and my first beer from Tallgrass Brewing Co., with some seriously awesome can art.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours two fingers of fluffy soft white head on top of a nice coppery orange-yellow colored body with a bit of haze to it and some nice strings of bubbles rushing topside. Little to no lacing leftover.

S - Wonderfully refreshing smell of sweet tea leaf like sweetness, dirty earthiness, & a crisp lemongrass hop presence.

T - Taste follows the nose: crisp lemongrass, earthiness, & some sweet tea leaf like malt presence. Medium-light bodied, this is what a pale ale should taste like in my opinion. The galaxy hops are juicy and fruity in the vain of orange & grapefruit. Apparently, I like galaxy hops!

M - Feel is crisp & juicy with some resinous hops lingering to the palate.

Overall, this is some seriously good American pale ale. Nicely flavored, crisp, & refreshing with a modest 5.20% abv, this is a beer I could drink all day and not get tired of. If I am remembering correctly, this beer tastes similar to what the Crazy Mountain Mountain Livin' Pale Ale tasted like, so perhaps that beer is made using galaxy hops as well. Either way, an enjoyable beer that I hope to have lots more of.

Tallgrass 8-Bit Pale Ale ---4/5.
