Grabbed this over at Pauls house last night. I took over a pork tenderloin, he supplied the beer. Side poured from the can with medium vigor into a Sam Adams glass.

Appearance - Just as would be expected with a stout. Jet black, no light penetration. Thin mocha colored head on top, leaves little lacing and dissolves relatively rapidly. I like the white can, I like canned beer period.

Smell - A whole bunch of sweetness involved, milky, chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of coffee.

Taste - Just as would be expected. Tastes like Buffalo Sweat, flavored with vanilla, which is an excellent thing. The chocolate, coffee, and mocha notes are first, followed by the vanilla. Pretty amazing, well balanaced.

Mouthfeel - Thick, rich, smooth, goes down real easy. Like drinking alcoholic chocolate milk.

Overall - Condor recommended and approved. For a small brewery located in essence in Nowheresville, Kansas, Tallgrass really has some solid offerings, anchored by the Buffalo Sweat line. I also enjoy the 8-Bit Pale Ale. The have carved a niche out for themselves, I hope to see them do well and expand their product lines before too long.

Shoe shined black with a splotchy, sticky tan head.

Smell is timid with vanilla and roasted malt.

Tastes of roasted grains, milk chocolate and taffy with a long vein of vanilla right down the middle and a hint of bitterness in the end.

Medium and smooth albeit a slight thin.

Not as sweet as most which is not a bad thing.

Very dark opaque brown, basically black, with some ruby highlights against the light and a substantial foamy tan head that retreats slowly and leaves plenty of nice lacing.

The aroma is malty, with hints of fruit, chocolate and vanilla.

The taste is similar - malty, raisins or plums, definite vanilla with chocolate and a hint of coffee, definitely sweet which actually goes well with the vanilla and fruit flavors. This makes it a bit of a dessert brew and it actually went well with pumpkin pie.

Light/medium body, very creamy and smooth, very drinkable.

Overall a very nice brew although I still prefer the original Buffalo Sweat, this was enjoyable.

Smelled the vanilla in this one, which can be hard to pick out of a stout. The flavor was nice, very close to a peanut butter to me. Better than the regular version imo.
