Drink by 7/12/14
Appearance: Burnt orange color. Finger of head on the pour which settled around a half a finger. Thick lacing left behind at each level. Cloudy body with below average active carbonation in glass while drinking.
Smell: Bitter resinous pine hits first. Body of grapefruit, saturated tangerines, and mangos. Solid malt backbone allows the hop tones to shine through. Piney bitterness continue to showcase itself throughout the aroma.
Taste: Like the aroma, big front of pine, resin, and more pine. The bitter tones continue to pummel the palate as some heavy, saturated citrus tones. Bitterness backs off toward the finish giving way for some lighter fruit tones.
Mouthfeel: Nice transitions of big bitter front to an easier drinking sweetness on the back end. Crisp hop tones with some lingering bitterness on the finish.
Overall: Big bitter single ipa. Without the slight backing off on the finish this could easily be mistaken for an IIPA. Been really impressed with each offering I've had from Tallgrass.

Another sample from my Independence Day get together with out of state friends. From the can on July 4, 2014..
It is a very heady golden amber pour. The white head takes its time to settle down.
A slight sweet and grainy aroma mixes with an earthy and grassy hop note.
Smooth, medium body.
Again with the grainy malts. Those are the first things I get in the taste but it won't take long before it evolves into a full but not floral, hop bitterness. Enjoyable.
