Deep brown in color with a half inch tightly knit beige head. Light Brussels lacing. Aroma of dark, biscuity malt is what I'm getting from the nose. The taste is caramel and light chocolate and is delicately done. There's a gentle bitterness from the darker malt at the back of the palate. The mouth is dry and creamy, very much a sessionable beer. (346 characters)

L: Pours brilliant dark amber to light brown under a cream colored 2” rocky foam cap that hugs the side of the glass.
S: Light caramel, faint biscuit, faint nuttiness.
T: Rich, complex malt flavors, treacle, with light cola in the background, finishes crisp and dry.
F: Creamy, soft in the mouth, medium to medium light body, medium low carbonation.
O: Tallgrass has pretty well nailed this style. Refreshing, satisfying and sessionable. (444 characters)

Picked up a can from the Ale Jail in St. Paul. It's always a pleasant surprise to find another session beer on the shelf, and I'm always a fan of milds. As it should be, it's malty beer. It's a touch heavier than I'd expect, but doesn't feel too filling. It's a sweet mild, with a sugar cookie, English biscuit and a bit of toffee. There's a smooth fruity undertone and really no hops to speak of. (397 characters)

Based on the original 2007 formula according to the can.. Listed as a brown, not a mild...

Pours cooper colored with a thumb of cream colored head. Average head retention & slightly better lacing

S: Faint fruittyness, leafy hops

T: Follows the nose, faint nuttyness also up front. Golden delicious apples, slight dryness & fairly faint caramel as this warms, some woody hops. Finsihes fruitty, with leafy hops & dryness/crispness

MF: Light bodied, soft carbonation

This does seem more like a mild than a brown to me, but could buy it as either. Easy to drink, but nothing too exciting here, doesn't really stack up against best examples of the style, which always shine in cask form. Not sure I would ever buy this again (725 characters)

Woodychandler, a couple of reviews below this one, has it wrong. I recieved this beer from him in one of his beautiful packages. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a bronze color with a 1 inch head. Smell is a bit malty, biscuity. Taste is nutty, a good bit of malts, a touch of toffee, just a bit unusual. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a different and enjoyable beer. (381 characters)
