On tap at Chelsea Brewing Company in NYC.

Pours a clear, copper color. The off-white head fades to a ring, leaving patches of lace. The aroma is malty: toffee and fruit mainly. There's also a bit of alcohol and light, resiny hops.

Toasty malts lead into a bready sweetness. The richer malt flavors that you might expect are pretty muted. There's a light bite from the alcohol and carbonation. The finish has a lingering grassy bitterness. Light-bodied with high carbonation and a light dryness in the finish.

Overall, not as malty as a lot of Alts that I've had, but I think the relative lack of sweetness helps a bit with the sessionability.

A_Pours a clear copper/brown with a frothy head. Staying power is decent and it leaves plenty of streaks of lace.

S_On the mild side. Slight biscuit notes mingle with some caramel malts. No real hop presence.

T_On the dryer side as the biscuit dominates the first sip. There is some caramel sweetness in the aftertaste. Minor leafy hop presence can be detected but this is a little more malty.

M_Just barely on the thicker side with a tight bubbled semi agressive carbonation.

D_A decent but not great alt. Still this was a worthy attempt at the style. The alcohol isn't really detectable, so if you like a malty quaffing brew this is a good choice.

Light chocolate color poured from the awesome taps at the Chelsea Brewery on the Fourth of July. Minimal head faded quickly but the low carbonation created the perfect mouthfeel for the slight sweetness of the classic altbier. I think 7.5-8% abv as there is a bit of punch with this one and not a taste of alcohol. Overall homerun for the brewers as this is not an easy brew and this is very drinkable and unique to find in this part of the country.

Growler via Whole Foods poured into a 25oz wine glass. Responsibility goes out the window.

Quarter head. Basic ruby, iced tea, bourbon-looking color.

Now, accidentally drowning in the face of this monumental goblet doesn't seem so far fetched once it sits down next to you. Now if you please, a little private time while I get ugly on this jug. ;)

...

Something like pecans but very muted. Mineral water, a little edge of maple, & a zesting of greens hopping up the end. Not getting much else with my nose here.

Behind the wheel of my tongue, I get some nuttiness, but a big sense of being watered down. A little muddy, & a touch salty when introducing the leafy hops. Earthy like potting soil; just hops & dirty water. It's just not very good.

Maybe a little dusty, but I probably dislike the low carbonation & tackiness more. My tongue feels like I just drank a pot of black tea.

Shared the growler. What more do you want from me?

Poured a cloudy burnt orange hue half finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a fruity hop, some coriander and sweet orange.

The taste consisted of a good wheat malt, and orangy coriander type spice.

The mouthfeel was a bit chewy.

I'm not so sure this is an alt. Perhaps an alt wit hybrid that tilts heavily toward the wit side. Tasty nonetheless.
