Poured from 750 mL bottle into snifter. Stamped enjoy by 06/02/24. Check!
A: Pours a nice dark brown hue with 1-2 inch frothy dark tan head with good retention.
S: Dark roast coffee, molasses, bourbon, nice oak char, vanilla, milk chocolate and a hint of anise.
T: Strong oak char and bourbon up front, dark roast coffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, and in the background lingers vanilla, blackberries, and cocoa.
M: Medium body…drinks lighter than the ABV would suggest. Very smooth feel. Love the darkly sweet and layered astringent elements from the char and tannins. Lingers and matures nicely on the palate.
D: This one was a really nice surprise. I’ve had a ton of bourbon barrel aged imperial stouts and this one has one of the best barrel characteristics imparted on the base brew. Think a full flavored yet lighter bodied BCBS. Speaks to the head brewer’s background. Seek it out!

Dark brown with a good head for a stout. Very smooth making it easy to drink.

The thickest stout I've ever poured (and I've poured a few). Very chocolaty and espresso flavoring. I admit, I am NOT a stout drinker but I thought I'd give this a try because I've been surprised before. For a stout it's very good, reminds me of a lot of the European stouts. Over all it's very good.

Poured from bomber into wide mouth pint glass.
L: Pours deep black with thick taupe head that thins but remains. Nice lacing that remains.
S: Espresso, chocolate malt, oak, and bourbon. Exactly what you'd expect and well balanced.
MF: Creamy, silky smooth with light carbonation and just a hint of a bourbon bite. Medium body and roasted malt. Perhaps the best part of the beer.
T: Setup well by aroma... espresso, cocoa nibs, roasty malt, and oaky bourbon.
O: Excellent beer. I've had it once before and thought it was too heavy on the bourbon, but this one was perfect. Each part of the experience builds on the next. It's exactly what you'd expect and so good. Simply good but complex. Highly recommend!
