Served on-tap in a Shaker pint at Beer Run (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Hazy amber with short cap of oatmeal colored head with a consistent thin ring of lacing down the glass.

S: Dense hoppiness with orange and grapefruit citrus banging into pine and guava. Maltiness has very light caramel but mainly pale malt character.

T: THe flavor is delicious with well-hidden alcohol. Waves of orange and grapefruit pour down with pine and floral notes coming through more in the finish. LIght caramel malt lends some complexity in a solid backbone. No yeast flavors. No oat flavors either. Medium bitterness at least.

M: The oats do add some heft and an interesting texture but a little thick for an 8.4% DIPA. Carbonation is low-medium with medium body.

O: I was impressed by this BM offering -- usually hoppy beers are not their forte, but The DOPA comes through with a solid hops blast and an interesting although a little misplaced thicker texture and body. On a British session beer or APA, hmmm?

Poured an orange body with minimal head and lace ring around glass. An aroma of citric hops that has touches of earthiness, spice and grapefruit. Beer is light bodied, smooth, has a strong citric hop presence with some spiciness, grapefruit mixed in, the grapefruit notes give off sweetness as well. Balance is there thanks to a small malt base that gives off touch of caramel sweetness. Sharp, crisp finish that hides ABV and a relaxing high ABV sipper.
