A: Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head that leaves a nice amount of lacing.

S: Slight sweet smell of the typical Belgian Abby Ales. Not as strong of a scent that I would have liked though.

T: The taste has hints of the sweet abby beer flavor but then moves more to a lager like finish. Balances more to the sweet side, even for an Abby style and could have benefited with a stronger bitter flavor.

M: Nice amount of chew to the beer. Right on par with what I was expecting.

D: It's a drinkable beer but there are definitly better Abbys out there. That being said, I wouldnt mind drinking it again.

Overall: Overall the beer was a nice drinking beer with a strong Abby sweet flavor to it. With a litter bit more of a bitter flavor this beer could have gone to a higher level. Overall, it's a decent Belgian style beer.

Pours dark brown with a 1 1/2 finger tannish head that recedes leaving light lacing and a ring around the glass.. Held up to a light, the beer develops a reddish hue that's almost vinous.

Dark chocolate and caramel. Coffee and dark fruits. Smokey.

Sweet burnt malt with dark fruit and spice.

Medium full in body with both light pepper and light syrup. Smoothly warming.

Very pleasant and tasty. A good winter warmer.

Pours into a chalice a burnt orange infused lighter aber shade with a creamy off white head that leaves a nice full ring of lace as it settles.Alot of dark fruit in the nose along with a bit of caramel toffee and mild phenol spice.A little yeasty on the palate with a decent amount of clove spice to go along with alcohol dipped dark fruit and some breadiness in the finish. Not bad maybe a little heavy heanded in the yeast flavors but it's a nice sipping dubbel.

A: deep red, just shy of opaque; no head as poured; fading soapy lacing
S: malty, cocoa, grassy
T: malt, cocoa, coffee, mineral, and grass similar to a farmhouse ale, slightly apple-y aftertaste
M: full-bodied, smooth, coating
O: Well-constructed. For those looking for more of a rough-shod mountain ale with a nod to an ancient tradition, this is an excellent choice. Clearly not sessionable, per se, but you could enjoy an imperial pint or two with good friends and be the better for it.
