L: Poured from a bottle to a goblet. Had a dark brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of off white head that lasted an average amount of time. Good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of dark fruits, malt, yeast, sugar, and spices.

T: Tasted of some mild candi sugar notes, light spices (cloves, mostly), light malt notes, lots of dark fruit (raisins, figs), Belgian-style yeast, and a nice tinge of bananas. A pretty solid flavor that's heavier on the dark fruits than anything else. Could have been bolstered a little, but that's not a huge problem.

F: A highly carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer has its issues, but still manages to be pretty drinkable. Worth a try.

Last bottle from a six-pack I had a while back, which hung around a little longer in the fridge than I had planned due to me being sick for a couple weeks. Still within "best by" period (the date is July 3rd, 2016), though, and going by the technically-past-date bottles I had last year this isn't really a beer that's hurt by a bit of age, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Color is very, very dark brown -- once in the glass it looks almost black except for some visibly dark-brown bits around the edges. Shining a light through makes it look dark red, and also reveals that there are quite a bit of tiny little bubbles rising up from the bottom constantly. Decent layer of light tan foam at first, which shrinks away pretty quickly; after a few minutes it's down to a thicker ring around the edge and some thin "islands" of foam on one side.

Smell is sweet and dark-bready right away, with some noticeable yeastiness in there too when I take another sniff. Occasionally I get a slight whiff of an almost maple-syrup-like sweetness even from a little distance away. A tiny bit of a banana-yeast thing occasionally, fading away a bit as time goes on and being replaced with more of a spice sort of thing. It's a very pleasant smell all around.

Taste is similar to the smell but stronger and mixed around a bit, with the sweet fruity (maybe plum-like?) yeastiness coming in first followed by some nice toasty dark bread afterward. I picked up a tiny bit of a banana-like thing in the smell but am not really getting that in the taste at all. Almost a little roasty, definitely some very dark malt involved. Maybe a bit of spice in there too, I'm noticing on my second and third sips; there's definitely something else in there mixing in with the bready flavors after the initial sweet-fruity-yeasty burst. There's a lingering bready, almost savory flavor that hangs around a bit. Burps are an interesting fruity sort of thing, a blend of the various yeast flavors (including the banana I got in the smell but not the taste, interestingly.) Overall very tasty. I had mixed feelings toward a few of the bottles from this six-pack but I'm liking this so much that I suspect it was down to my taste buds rather than the beer itself.

Mouthfeel is pretty nice too. Not super bubbly (definitely not anywhere near "prickly"), and not even anywhere in the neighborhood of watery -- this definitely has a more substantial feel to it, maybe even bordering on sticky from the sweetness at times but never really in a bad way. Not noticing any warmth or "burn" from the alcohol despite the beer being near 8% ABV. Overall the feel doesn't stand out as much as the flavor but is still nice.

Overall a very nice beer in pretty much every area; probably the closest thing I could find to a weak point was the fairly small and short-lived head of foam, which some Belgian/Belgian-style beers tend to have *a lot* of. It was definitely a pleasant surprise to find one of these still in my fridge (nearly forgot I still had one after being sick and/or recovering from surgery most of this month!)

12 oz bottle recently purchased but a little past its BB date anyway.

Look: Dark brown; nearly opaque. A little sediment at the bottom, with most added in the pour. Adequate size head (less than a finger) with good retention and leaves spotty lacing

Aroma: raisins and other dark dried fruits.

Flavor: Relatively strong flavor for style. Lightly sweet from start to finish with some earthy hops and spicy yeast.

Feel: medium body and lively but soft medium+ carbonation.

Overall: a decent dubbel, but certainly no match for a good number of fine dubbels from Belgium.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

This brew is dark, a little hazy, raisin colored, and nearly headless.
It smells crisp, of sweet fruit and spice, with a Belgian yeast smell that's hard to describe.
First sip is surprisingly smooth, almost viscous, slides right down with some moderate carbonation.
I taste some fig, dark fruit, and candy banana, thanks to the yeast. There is a spice hint reminiscent of... homemade egg nog? (wha...?!) Quite malty with a noticeable alcohol presence.

Pours a dark, hazy, cola-like brown into my pint glass. A slight, thin layer of tan head appears, then quickly dissipates, with very little lacing. The smell has spices and dark fruits (raisins, figs), but not overly strong. The taste is sweet & slightly prickly, then follows up with some faintly sour notes; roasty, spicy & slightly chocolaty. It's pleasant and subtle. Mouth feel is smooth & enjoyable, with good balance, light carbonation. Goes down easy. It's good tasting, easy to drink, well-balanced, but nothing extraordinary about this.

L: Darker than amber; almost black with thin white head.
S: Spice; sugar and candy sweet smell; maybe a faint plum or fig smell.
T: Sweet taste that does not over power. A spice or clove taste is pretty mellow.
F: Smooth and sweet in the mouth and not bitter at all.
O: I don't drink this style often and am not familiar with what it should be but I do like this. Great warming beer for the winter and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a basic Dubbel.

Pours a dark amber color. Nice white head. Good lacing lingers.
Aroma is Belgian - some spice and banana.
Taste follows the aroma - sweet, banana, and clove. Very satisfying. Mild sweetness lingers.
Mouth feel is very good. Light carbonation. Smooth.
Overall, a nice Belgian dubbel. I enjoyed this. Let it warm and the flavor really comes out. A good beer for sipping on a cold night. Another good one from Blue Mountain.

Look: Dark brown: Somewhat subdued head (less than a finger); Fairly good lacing

Smell: Burnt Candi sugar: Maybe some fruit.

Taste: Pretty sweet flavor profile from start to finish; Perhaps some spice in there
as well. Maybe a metallic hint once or twice.

Feel: medium

Overall: As a fan of sweet beers, I enjoyed this one, particularly once I was several
ounces in. (Perhaps warming helped.) Would have again.
