From the beer cave at Kroger 401, Brambleton Ave. and Colonial Ave. Roanoke, VA. I think this was the last holdover from summer 2013. Best by 03 2014.
Pours a clear straw yellow with a slightly off white head of 4 fingers (from a hard pour) that recedes quickly with initial thick, clingy lacing. Numerous carbonation bubbles of various sizes, very fine, medium and huge.
Fresh and bready with some light herbals or spice from the hops. An impression of warm milk. A bit of nutty malt.
The first glass was very bitter at first, but it becomes much more palatable as the taste buds numb up. Light sweet malt with a bit of tart citrus from the hops and a bitter follow through. Taste is almost vinuous, approaching that of a dry white wine.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly medium thick, almost viscous. Carbonation is very evident. Rather drying. Descent burn.
Much more impressive by the second glass. At first I was afraid it was too old, but this beer grew on me. Might have been even better in the summer.

Bottle pours a crystal clear light goolden body with a small white head. Poor retention and just a few specks of lacing on the glass.
Aroma is subtle but features grassy and herbal hops, a hint of fruity green apple, and some toasted grain.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and crisply carbonated.
Taste has a prevailing herbal and grassy bitterness that is balanced by just a hint of honey sweetness. Clean but slightly grainy malt base. Finishes crisp and dry.
Very well crafted kolsch. One of the better warm weather beers I've run across in awhile.

Appearance: very light yellow in color; the head disappeared quickly, nice bubbleage.
Smell: slightly hoppy with hint of grass, maybe lemon-apple too.
Taste: crisp, malty beer that has a slightly sweet grain flavor
Mouthfeel: Crisp, clean, dry
Drinkability: As with other Kölsch, this one is great for summer. It was easy to drink and light to the belly.

A thanks goes out to woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very light, a tiny bit of malts, not much there. Taste is malts, grains, light floral notes, refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but nothing special.

Poured from a can into a chilled mug. Pour was a clear golden color with a small head that didn't last long. Delicate but slightly fizzy mouthfeel. More flavorful than I expected with a slightly bitter finish. Hints of citrus throughout. The bitterness wasn't a hoppy bitterness. Overall a nice refreshing, very drinkable beer
