Tap at Duckworths. Slightly hazy, more yellow than gold. Laces pretty well.

Aroma, Clovey, some mild fruit, bannan, apple.

Taste, lots of clove. Some biscuit and hay as well.

Nice and mouth filling. About mid bodied and almost creamy. Alcohol is well hidden.
A good straight forward version.

a: served in a standard pint glass, Summer Haze is a lightly clouded deep golden in color, retaining a full layer of white carbonation

s: body of aromatic wheat malt and pale sugars, herbal and citrusy hops, thoroughly hopped for a weizenbock and the citrus edge is very nice - mostly tangerine, sweet fruity esters, banana, moderate phenolic clove, lots to take in here

m: body around moderate with a slight sweet stickiness, carbonation around moderate-high

t: sweet wheat and pale malts on the palate, well hopped with floral and herbal flavors, lovely citrus rind of the orange and tangerine varieties, atypically hopped and hoppy for the style, bready yeast, banana esters, mild clove, the flavor profile is full and intriguing, a pleasure

o: simply a great weizenbock with some nice twists to the style, the hops on this thing are fantastic - clearly American and apparently dry-hopped, and there's loads of range in the wheat malt and yeast components

Summer Haze Pale Weizenbock 40 IBU 7.8%
Pale malt WB dry hopped with American hops.

A-Cloudy, deep copper tinged golden orange, A thin white head held on strong and left nice lacing.

S-Light biscuity malt with a fairly strong clove aroma.

T-Unlike the smell this is multi-dimensional in the flavour profile. Crisp clove attack followed by tangerine, banana and a finish of light bubblegum. Hop bite coming in at the end with a spicy kick. This one surely will not bore you! 4.5

M-Medium-light body with a long lasting clove/hop bite. Very crisp and dry.

D-Really nice...I always like a beer that has a lot of flavours working together and this one has it. A bit of a burly kid though at almost 8%...but it's well hidden and isn't noticed at all. Well done "experimental beer" as the brewery notes call it.

Poured a cloudy golden body with large head and some lace that stuck around and has an aroma that is citric and spice with faint yeast/orange twang. Beer is smooth, easy to drink, the yeast is there and adds a touch of sweetness and fluff in the beer, also get hints of tropical fruits but mostly a citric, hoppy body mixed with spice (to bastardize as done before - imagine your typical wheat beer with extra hops). Pretty good and had on a hot summer day and it hit the spot.

Served in a Shaker pint at Blue Mountain Brewery (Afton, VA).

A: Hazy light chestnut brown with creamy tight bubbled 1/2-finger head with excellent retention and multiple rings of lace down the glass.

S: Aroma is a combination of spicy and fruity yeast esters with a tangy wheat edge topped off with a load of citrus and floral hops notes.

T: The flavor doesn't work as well as the aroma as the intense hoppiness with pineapple and grapefruit notes clash a bit with the tangy wheat and the heavy fruity yeast esters. It almost tastes like a Belgian ale with the variety of flavors. The alcohol is not very perceptible and just lends a little sweetness. There is a light graininess from pilsner malt I assume.

M: Creamy with medium body but easy to drink with the low carbonation. Very smooth and deceptive kick.

O: I can see why some people would really like this beer as it is a melange of different flavors, but they don't fit together well for me with too much yeast character and a strange interplay between the estery nature of the beer and the citrusy and floral American hopping.

On tap at Blue Mountain Brewery's tasting room. Served in a 10 oz. goblet.

Appearance: A beer described in my notes as "orange gold sunset haze." It's the color of marmalade, really, opaque and cloudy, with a gorgeous white fine-bubbled one-finger head that leaves a ton of amazing sheets of speckles of lacing. A truly great looking beer.

Aroma: A lot of standard weizenbock notes here - powdery, wheaty grain, cloves, bubble gum, and bananas. There are a few tart citrus notes as well - oranges and tangerines being the two most prominent, I believe.

Taste: Amazing. Great pale weizenbock that hits all the right notes up front - lightly roasted malts, plenty of pale sweetness, cloves, bananas, soft wheat - but the dry hopping definitely comes through here (did I mention this beer was highly hopped with "American hops" and then dry-hopped? Well, it is. Neat, huh?). There's lots of leafy herbalness, a few light and spicy notes (sprucey and piney ones, especially in the finish), and an amazing meld of citrus hops with the natural weizenbock fruit notes - tropical fruits, pineapple, orange. A truly impressive array of flavors in this one.

Mouthfeel: Very even and creamy, medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Just a really nice feeling beer.

Drinkability: Blue Mountain's best beer yet, in my opinion - the nearly 8% abv doesn't even make an appearance. The melding of the American hops and the German yeast notes is fantastic, the beer is gorgeous - this is really just an impressive, impressive beer.
